We just got back from a one week trip to Crete and 7 nights at Marilisa. This is a place that made us feel like we were home. Eleni and her colleagues were very nice and always very helpful. We thank them for all the help. Our daughter, Natalia, still talks about them.
The room - very good and cleaned every day. We had a pool view room and at first we thought it will be noise but we handle it and could take our afternoon nap.
The food - breakfast was good, almost the same everyday but that’s the case in all hotels. In the morning there is variety of cheese and ham, butter, eggs made different each day (boiled, scrambled or fried), vegetables, jams, honey, fruits and cereals. We took lunch there only the first day and we had a nice Greek salad and chicken gyros. The other days we took the recommendation from Eleni and went to To Kima tavern (I hope it is spelled correct) a few minutes away. Very good food there. Dinner at Marilisa was good. Various dishes with meat and vegetables, fish, rice, salads, fruits and sweets. We had what to eat each evening. All the drinks from the bar you have to pay. Draft beer is almost 4 euro and a juice 2.70 euro.
The beach - is almost 50 m from the hotel and you get an umbrella from the reception if needed. It’s very quiet and not crowded, only a few people all day long and most of them are locals. It’s mostly for towels but there are also sun bed. A pair with umbrella costs 5 euro all day.
The village - quiet and close to the airport, only 15 minutes away. You get go to Heraklion by bus, 1.80 euro the trip. Also close to Cretaquarium, 5 min, and 1,60 euro the trip. Lots of car rental places and we recommend Interhellas, neighbour’s of Marilisa. Good...
Read moreThis was our first time coming to Crete and we absolutely loved it. We went in August for two weeks and although it was hot it had a slight breeze which we didn't expect so that was quite nice. Starting with the rooms, they were fully air-conditioned which was nice for a change. The rooms were cleaned every day and there were never any bugs or ants in the room except the odd spider. The beds were really comfy as well. Out of all the hotels we've ever been to the staff were definitely the nicest here. If you needed anything at all they would help you. There was a small girl there for a little time when we were there and one of the staff members was buying little gifts for her, it was so cute; sadly I cannot remember the name of the staff member. Most of the time we had the poolside to ourselves which was not expected but very relaxing. It was like a pass through road to get between the towns so there weren't that many shops but the ones that were there were really nice, people were incredibly friendly. The Olive soap was really cheap as well (something like 1 euro) for just one bar of it, so I would definitely recommend getting some considering how dear it is in the UK. There were two beaches that were in walking distance. So the first one was quite small and could only fit two rows of sun loungers. So the front ones were 15 euros each and the back ones were 10 euros about 50m away from the hotel, they might not be the exact prices but they were something like it. However, there was another beach maybe about 15 minutes away, it was given the Blue flag and for 2 sun loungers at a parasol it was 7 euros. Absolutely stunning.
We would definitely come back...
