Souroturi - Greek Local Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Heraklion

This was one of the best lunches, and the only I'm reviewing, on a multi-week trip to Greece. If you're wondering if this is as good as the reviews, yes, yes it is.

I went with two others and we had the house salad, cheese balls, and chicken in cream sauce. We shared all three and loved them all, especially the salad with it's honey/sesame crisps and the chicken, which was flavorful and could be cut with a fork. We were so impressed with each tasting like something original/local, and not just tourist/usual food. As others mention, if you're a foodie, this is an excellent stop.

Service was prompt, curious, and welcoming. Finally, as others have mentioned, comes with a free appetizer and dessert and generous amounts of Raki (post-food alcohol), all more than good enough to pay for.

First of all, this restaurant was incredible!

We were looking for an authentic greece restaurant outside of the tourist area and found this one in google maps. The food was delicious. Everything was fresh and made to perfection. We ate one of the best salads I have ever had and multiple greek delececies such as stuffed vegetables, grape leaves and saganaki. All of which were absolutely incredible. Also, I had a very delicious steak. We also got a free dessert and bread with olives as an appetizer. The service was incredible. The guy serving our food was extremely friendly and not pushy at all. The price was very low for the amount of food we had and the quality of it.

We had there our first dinner in Crete and we were amazed. As this restaurant is not in the touristic center it was also full of local people. We liked the format of sharing different dishes so we had opportunity to try many different plates. Everything was tasty and good quality. During our stay on the island we did not find another restaurant which was as good as this one , so we decided to come back here just before flying back!
