Thai Food Sawadee — Restaurant in Municipality of Heraklion

Although I have not been to the restaurant itself, I have ordered their food several times. Each time, the food was full of flavor, very fresh, nicely presented and delivered on time. I have eaten around the world and would consider myself as someone who knows a thing or two about food. Therefore, I was very surprised to read through the few (mainly Greek) negative reviews. No restaurant deserves a bad rating because customers are unfamiliar with foreign cuisines or flavors. It would be like giving a bad review to a Greek restaurant anywhere in the world because I don't like Pastitsio. Let's also not forget that Heraklion is not Athens and certain ingredients are still not available (i.e. fresh Thai basil or kantakari,). If there would be anything I would suggest to Sawadee, it would be to have (some of their) soups include galanga ;) I can wholeheartedly recommend Sawadee and wish them all the best for the future! A true hidden Thai restaurant GEM.

Right from the moment we entered, the warm and friendly atmosphere made us feel right at home.

The waitress was incredibly pleasant and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal.

What impressed us even more was when we were finish with the food, the chef and owner personally greeted us.

Their passion for Thai cuisine was evident in every dish we tried. The flavors were authentic and the presentation was impeccable. It was evident that they took great pride in their restaurant.

This hidden gem is not only a culinary delight but also a place where you feel like a valued guest.

We were very excited to try after reading the good reviews. However, the food was very disappointing. I ordered the classic Thai soup dish Tom Yum (with noodles), but what they served was basically just cooked instant noodles with some veggies and chicken. I don’t think it’s acceptable for a restaurant to serve customers instant noodles as a restaurant dish without indication. My boyfriend had Thai fried noodles but the dish was flavorless and not Thai-styled at all. Overall, very disappointing for Thai food...
