Da Vito Pizza — Restaurant in Municipality of Kalamata

My wife and I are visiting Greece, and per suggestions from our friends, who have been to Kalamata before, we stopped by DaVito Pizza. Long story short - it was literally a revelation, as this small, but very pleasant place downtown Kalamata serves the best pizza we ever had. The staff is friendly and the service was unusually fast and pleasant. We even get to speak to a General Manager - Maria, who told us a little secret - they ONLY use the flour, which they directly import from Italy. ONLY that flour, imagine that.... This and the impressive skills of the DaVito kitchen, explained why their thin crust pizza is so delicious and vanishes from the plates in no time :) We planned to have a pizza there and leave, but instead we ended up having two pizzas, and designating DaVito as the only place, where we have been going for pizza.. and for salad... and for .. oh well, for the whole menu, which is worth trying, as we have been doing during the last three days. Also, my wife, who is not very much into sweets, literally fell in love with their tiramisu, and even made several attempts to "assault" my portion of the daVito tiramisu. It was fun :) In short, great place, great food, great service and very pleasant staff. We were looking for a place to have dinner on a Friday night and were drawn to the ambience of this pizzeria. From the minute we were seated till it was time to leave, the whole experience was a delight. Although it was a little chilly, we opted to sit outside as the outdoor heaters were on and the atmosphere with the candles and plants looked cozy. As soon as we sat down the server came with our menus and a smile. We ordered a salad, freshly made tortelloni and a pizza. The server also helped us pick out a wine to go with our dishes, which truly was amazing. Every dish was aromatic and flavorful as befits an Italian restaurant worthy of the name. A real gem in Kalamata! The pasta and pizza dough are homemade – and it shows. Everything we tried was full of flavor, made with high-quality ingredients. The pizzas were perfectly baked, and the pasta dishes had great texture and taste.

The salads were fresh and well-composed, and the drink selection was wide and varied – there’s something for everyone.

Service was friendly, positive, and solution-oriented – always with a smile and a helpful attitude.

The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating by a charming square near the church, creating a pleasant atmosphere at any time of day.
