Bistroteca was impeccable !! I particularly Loved the atmosphere & their variety of freshly squeezed juices which I could not find elsewhere. As a vegetarian I wasn’t sure if I could find many options, but I ordered the Buddha Bar salad without the crispy chicken & it was by far one of the best meals I enjoyed in Kalamata. They replaced the chicken with more delicious, fresh grilled vegetables which made the dish more amazing for me, absolutely delightful … the staff & the service were also great. Since I don’t speak Greek I just had a little bit of language barrier issue with my server whom misunderstood me when I just simply asked her a question regarding how a none vegetarian dish would be priced if we order it without the chicken or meat … before asking I had paid fully, plus a 25% tip on top, and had assured her that I was very happy with everything & was not asking for any price adjustment or anything else & only asked the question so I can include it in my review for anyone else who might be vegetarian, because the restaurant did not have any vegetarian-friendly salads or many vegetarian options. However, the first response I received from the staff probably wasn’t as awesome as everything else … I was told “ for 2,3 euros we don’t do so & so ”, & it kind of felt like I was being money-shamed for simply asking a question :) at first it didn’t come across very kind, specially given the very respectful conversation I’ve been previously having with the lady who was waiting my table … Well, it’s OK because sometimes things just get lost in translation or are taken personally … & sometimes unfortunately there are pre-judgments about tourists & their expectations… It happens, & it’s not a big deal… so the overall experience was very pleasant & Bistroteca became one of my favorite spots in Kalamata, specifically for its diverse interesting menu, tasty high quality food, fresh juices, awesome drink menu, beautiful ambiance & great vibe. At first I had ordered the green Goddess & mentioned to the lady that I may also order a pomegranate juice later. I did not receive the green goddess, I was brought the pomegranate juice, which was not a big deal as I love pomegranates; therefore, I didn’t mention it. I understand that we all speak different languages & this diversity brings more beauty to the world & always it is best to take it easy :) overall, a great experience & a...
Read moreNot a bad place to have a coffee and people watch for a while. Food is typical bistro fare. Among other things, we had some tea. We only drink organic teas and look forward to enjoying Greek honey with our tea. The honey that was served with our tea was definitely not typical nor Greek. As the pic shows, the packet of honey was not pure honey, but 50% honey and 50% fructose syrup. Very disappointing as fructose syrup is not an ingredient anyone recommends to be ingested. On the other hand, they don’t really hold themselves out to be an authentic Greek establishment. As mentioned, not a bad place to hang out for a bit. Staff cordial...
Read moreIf you're a fan of Greek-style coffee (and I'm not referring to traditional coffee, but the frappe and freddo variety) then Bistroteca may tick some boxes for you. Located on the main square it offers a perfect spot for people that want to see and be seen (especially during the winter months when the entire population of the town seems to migrate from the foreshore to the centre of town). The menu is good without being anything special. Visit the upstairs floor once the renovations are completed - it's been decorated with some flair. Typical of all Greek cafes and restaurants though, it's not...
