Polichronis and Katerina — Restaurant in Municipality of Kalamata

Wow, we had a perfect diner here today, best we had in Greece so far. We arrived late (19:00) and almost all dishes were sold out. But they managed to get me and my girlfriend some great food "leftovers". They cook on order normally, so we ordered and 5 minutes later we were eating a small selection they had available. (Cook in bulk)

Would recommend anyone to order at 13:00-14:00 and pickup the same day or eat in the restaurant. They close at 21:00, but i think they stop serving food at the restaurant around 20:00ish normally. A lot of Greek locals take there food home, which looks to be there main thing in the evening. Not sure if its packed earlier in the day. A lot of locals were picking up when we where in the restaurant, i think more then 30+ in a hour timeframe. And many picked up there order earlier. A safe guess is that more then 80 (mainly local) people order here daily.... 🤯 The batch for next day was all ready being prepared, and that was huge amounts of food being prepared.

Price = Extremely cheap for the quality and portion. Had a great lamb dish for only 9,- with potatoes. Lamb fell from the bone, meat was so tender and had perfect taste. It also looks like a daily changing menu. So no guarantee the Lamb is on the menu every day. ;)

No English, only Greek speaking ladies, but they really try to make you comfortable and let you choose the right dish you prefer. Gave them a big tip...

A truly Greek gem, you would walk by and not realise this place serves some of the most authentic Greek dishes we have ever found, and cooked with passion by a small team for eating in or take away, and the quality of food, and following of the place was shown by the constant stream and queue of locals, and delivery motor bikes waiting for take away orders.

The Moussaka was truly delicious, also the oven baked pork and potatoes in a delicious lemon sauce was outstanding. Such a lovely find right at the back of the port and harbour. It is what Greek food should be about, and not a plate of chips with a piece of grilled meat thrown on top, this food is cooked with passion. Go as early as you can as they get busy and...

The best place in kalamata for home made food. My favourite moussaka ever! The portions are brilliant and you never leave hungry. The prices remain at a reasonable level. They provide take away and you can order. They are very popular so better call them to book not a tabke but your meal. Traditional meals such as moussaka, pastitsio and meat in the oven with potatoes are getting sold fast. You need to go there before 2 pm otherwise all the best options are gone! At first, the place does not satisfy the eye, however, i promise you it will not disappoint you. It is not suitable if you wish to have fine dining or fancy eating. This is the best place for traditional home made food to feel your tummy...
