umami sushi and more — Restaurant in Municipality of Kalamata

We went with my husband for sushi but we were disappointed and we are never going back for sure. The sushi itself wasn’t great but wasn’t too bad either that’s why I’m leaving a 2 star rating. Some of the staff didn’t speak English (which you would expect in a touristic city). My husband ordered a nudle dish ,that was delayed by 25mins. I already finished my sushi and he finished his drink so we wanted to leave, therefore, we asked for the bill which upset the staff. The manager instead of apologising to his customer for the delay, he started arguing and being rude. He said 25 mins wait is OK (even though there was only 1 more customer when we made the order). Even though the delay can sometimes be justified (maybe lack of staff or poor management?) his behaviour is totally unacceptable. It won’t be long till another sushi bar opens and takes away...

Amazing service, place, and food quality, variety, and price!

It was the first japanese place with Tartare that I've ever gone to, and it was very good! I'd honestly still just eat their makis instead due to my taste, but I recommend you try it if you haven't before. It's worth it!

The restaurant's own special maki (Umami Special Uramaki) is delicious. It features a slightly crunchy fried softshell crab, which, when combined with everything else, makes for a very flavorful maki!

They're not shy of using asparagus in a lot of their sushi. It's not something that deteriorated my experience, in fact, I liked it! But it's definitely something to keep in mind.

The Temakis seem to be smaller, but they do give you 2 for 5 euros, and of course,...

Overall it was a nice experience. The sushi was quite good!!

However, I gave 3 stars for the food because the Noodles and the Fried Rice were simply not good restaurant grade. The yakisoba Udon dish tasted like something out of a cheap "stir fry mix" you can buy at a super market and make yourself at home.

My advice to the owner: Do not serve food that you are not great at. Stick to sushi, rolls, tempura etc.
