Cellar Tavern — Restaurant in Municipality of Kalavryta

Located in the heart of Kalabrita, this tavern offers a delightful dining experience with its excellent service and very reasonable prices. The overall food quality here is commendable, showcasing a range of well-prepared dishes that tantalize the taste buds. However, a notable exception was the kontosoubli. While traditionally a highlight in many taverns, in this case, it was somewhat disappointing. The meat was dry, lacking the succulence and flavor that one would expect from such a dish. This was a surprising contrast to the kokoretsi, which was absolutely perfect – cooked to perfection with a balance of flavors and textures that left me thoroughly impressed.What truly sets this tavern apart, though, is the level of service. The staff are attentive, friendly, and quick to respond, making the dining experience smooth and enjoyable. Very friendly people. Despite the language barrier, we communicated just fine with body language, lol.

When we mentioned that we are small eaters, the owner immediately offered half portion.

Ordered a pork souvlaki, a chicken souvlaki and a veal burger (yes, the whole burger in the picture is half a portion and we asked them not to give more fries as both the souvlakis came with fries on its own). They all tasted great. They're not over the top salty but just hit right on the spot. All these costs only 10 euro for both my husband and I.

Also, their bread tastes better than all other taverns we have visited so far in all over Greece. They grilled it a bit and added some olive oil and herbs to it. It's so wonderful that I can't stop eating even though it means I can't eat as much for the main meal.
