Ilias Grill and Coffee — Restaurant in Municipality of Kantanos-Selinon

This small family-owned restaurant has the best gyros, souvlaki and grilled meats in Sougia!

It’s located on the main road of Sougia, opposite the ATM, with seating across the street and adjacent to the restaurant. Quantities are generous, prices are low, and service is warm and friendly.

We have tried their gyros, souvlaki and grilled lamb chops, both takeout & served on the premises. Everything has been delicious. They also have our favorite Charma beer from Chania on tap.

What Ilias lacks in seaside charm it more than makes up for in flavor and affordability. We’ve been in Sougia for several weeks, have eaten in virtually every restaurant, and Ilias is one we can recommend...

This is the last spot on Marathi beach as you walk to the right along the shore, keeping the sea on your left side. It is a really cozy place, with eucalyptus trees for shade as well as two MASSIVE Lebanon Cedars, one of the very few places in all of Europe that you can see these great trees. The view is spectacular, the meat is exceptional and the owner, Ilias, is one of the most interesting Cretans you'll meet.... Even though his English is basic he is happy to sit and talk if he isn't too busy. Go here if you want a more authentic Cretan...
