I have been travelling in Greece quite a lot with locals and tried "few" places. This one felt like a true home cooking experience! We got dolmatakia (wine leaves with rice, fabulous) , stuffed peppers and goat (stewed). Everything was delicious and more than fairly priced! . The location is very cute and cannot be more greek! Now, I ve read some complaints : service is slow (yeah perhaps bit slow, but seems a pattern in the island :P), "not well plated " ( this made me laugh... That is the last thing I look for in a taverna) , the wine is undrinkable... ( This was In front of us, With a rude tone!... Dude, if you look for somellier level wine in a taverna you re in the wrong place). I think those complaints are not fair at all! C mon guys! if you want a real greek taverna experience this is it! I am rating this taverna based on it being a taverna, not a winery nor a fine dining place! And to me is 5 stars. Read moreAuthentic Greek, dishes freshly made. We thought we picked one of those 'typical' Greek taverna. Surprisingly the menu was short and consisted only of authentic dishes made by the restaurant itself. We ordered Sanaki, goat and meatballs. Sanaki is fried Greek cheese, Crete cheese. Simple and delicious. Goat was juicy and served with fresh orka, green beans, potato and rice. Vegetables cooked with herbs and tomato were wonderful. Rice and potato also fresh and tasty but just a bit too much for us. Meatballs served with a delicious sauce/gravy were juicy and made with herbs that did not overwhelm, best that we've tasted in a long time. Service was very friendly and made you feel right at home. Definitely...
Read moreIt's an overused expression, but it was really THE WORST experience I ever had: The food was terrible: Artichoke salad was drenched in vinegar, unbeatable; The fish roe tartare was a indescribable cheese dip; the vastly overpriced octopus salad (16 EUR) was barely passable; the bread was fast food quality buns; the chicken in the oven with potatoes was a really dry, tasteless chicken leg with boiled potatoes and there tomato slices.
Worst part? A really sour server that was almost offended when we asked to pay with card. Thankfully there is an ATM outside..
The only redeeming quality of the restaurant is that is quiet / not busy. Unfortunately there are reasons for that...
Just stay away...
