Taverna Kampos — Restaurant in Municipality of Kos

Last night we went in here it was mayhem..Busy and the main issue being not enough staff on...I saw one lady walk out after being ignored..They were turning people away too suggesting they came back later..none of them did whilst we were in there..My wife had the meatballs..It's probably the first time in Greece in over 45 years I had seen them done in a sort of batter..which meant they were pretty tasteless I had the Giouvetsi in a clay pot .That was pretty good except they had bunged chips into the bottom of the pot under the pasta which meant they were soggy.. Normally the dish isn't served like that.Its meant to be a pasta and meat dish..I get it .. everyone serves things slightly differently..Yes it was a traditional Taverna..not high end dining..the fact they were rushing around meant there was no atmosphere at all..They have a great range of dishes and the beers..and it's very good value..But they need to learn when to say no..they kept filling the tables but there were dirty plates glasses etc around..Other people might like it.But there are far better establishments literally just...

One of a few places that serves Fix Greek Beer for a start, but not the reason we visited!

Most of our group had been before, but this was my first time in Kos and Kefalos.

The menu is traditional Greek, with a couple of other choices, omelettes etc, but not too much of a big menu - always a good start!

We ordered; a couple of rounds of beers, some starters to share, notably the Saganaki (Greek fried cheese). That was especially good, and very tasty!

For mains we had; some souvlaki (pork skewers), lamb cutlets, stuffed sea break with crab and shrimp (very nice!), an omelette, and my favourite, a homemade moussaka! Tasted perfect!

I believe all the dishes came with either rice/homemade chips/potatoes and salad.

We were given a round of complimentary Ouzo over ice - nice touch, and the bill was around €65. Definitely worth it, will visit again for sure! Staff, service, decor and food all get...

So how to start writing this comment, i really will do it from my heart because the family who manages this restaurant deserves it. Me and my girlfriend were already in four different islands of Greece and we've eaten in many restaurants but in none so good like this one. The staff was fantastic, the food was incredible, the ambient was really nice and homely and the prices were ok too. We repeated four times in our Holidays on Kos in this restaurant and we were remembering them every time we went to another restaurant in other Greek island because there isn't comparative with them. Everybody who were serving us in this restaurant was lovely with us and this is why we remember them because the experience left us a mark in our heart. I'm not writing it because i knew them before or they were my friends but only because they deserve it, and i wish them all the best of the...
