Arrived day one all seemed ok but the room was dated with no facilities to make a drink. There was a small fridge under the dressing table but the plug didn't fit in the socket. Day two. Our first breakfast. What a shock, no choice at all provided, no menu to suggest what was on offer. We made ourselves a drink as we couldn't make one in our room, two boiled eggs and slices of cheese were put on a tray by one of the staff. We went to sit down to drink our coffee and the staff member walked over to say do you want your cheese and eggs?? No thank you was the reply. It then transpired that breakfast was cheese and eggs or ham and cheese every morning. Needless to say we didn't have breakfast for the rest of our stay. English breakfast was on the bar menu but didn't open until 12. Day 3 we mentioned the shower hook was broken and we were asked can you get washed? Yes, was the reply, "then it doesn't need to be fixed it works" was the reply from the owner who was very rude and totally xenophobic toward English guests. This we noticed as our stay continued for 10 days. The shower bracket was never fixed the whole time we were there. That same day we had been out on the beach and returned to our room at around 16.30 expecting to have a shower and get ready to go out for a meal. The beds had been stripped of all bedding and cleaning was in process, we said they didn't need to do that we could make our own beds but the reply from the elderly lady was "this my house I clean when I want to" Every day at around 15.00 to 18.00 we couldn't get in our room as they were cleaning. We had to go and buy a kettle as there was no way to get a hot drink until 8am in the morning when breakfast was served. There were no cups, glasses or any facilities to have anything to eat or drink in your room. The mattresses were stained and felt like they were filled with straw. They were so uncomfortable, and even though the sheets were spotless and changed every two days there were no mattress protectors on the beds. When we chose to stay around the pool and use the sun loungers, the old man was checking the sun brolly to ensure we had put the pin in the correct hole. Randomly would walk over and start messing with brolly. After that we decided to go to the beach and not use the pool. The family argued a lot in public and one morning we made ourselves a drink in the dining room to see that the daughter had a nasty black eye. The older couple who owned the hotel were extremely rude, and unwelcoming, we have been going to Kefalos and Kos for the last 26 years and this is the very worst of all the various accommodation types we have stayed in. Would never stay...
Read moreIf you want to stay in a small hotel located close to restaurants and beaches owned by one cantankerous Greek family, be their guest!
I love all things Greek, unfortunately the hospitality I have enjoyed over the years across the Islands were absent here.
It has everything going for it. A lovely pool which is perfect to relax in, a bar with food at good prices and clean rooms.
Unfortunately, on several occasions, the family made comments about their views and how guests should act. This extended to the use of air conditioning (which is a paid for extra) and how bringing sand back from the beach made everything dirty. I feel they forget that people are on holiday. While it's important people are respectful during their stay, people come to relax.
As a solo traveler, I felt uncomfortable during these times which were unfortunate. I was told off in front of guests (initially assuming this was a joke about sand) it soon dawned on myself and others around that this was a problem for them. I was only made aware of the tap available to use on the day I was leaving. This is a real shame as the hotel itself has much going for it. If you are looking for a great value getaway, and don't mind somewhat dated rooms, the hotel could be for you.
As per other reviews, the breakfast is shockingly bad. Baguette, spread and jam. Alongside instant coffee and tea. Plus, cheese and ham. I only ate there once and ventured to Corner Cafe (which I recommend) for breakfast. Coffee is 💪. The family who own the hotel I couldn't quite work out. They often seemed annoyed or irritated and seem to have a hatrid for those who request air conditioning. At 75 euros for a week's use - I think I can decide on how and when I use it. If it's use is too much, I would suggest removing this as an option when guests book.
The rooms are cleaned daily. On one occasion the bed linen had stains on which I asked to be changed. This was done immediately. The owners blamed those who wear oil based tanning products?? After this, the family seemed to have something against me for bringing it to their attention.
While I only paid £22 per night for a room, cleanliness should extend to linen. Attention to detail was lacking.
Inside the rooms, the facilities are dated and cramped. The shower head holder was broken, awkwardly propped up on the wall. The mattress was uncomfortable and rock hard.
This hotel provides a budget friendly option if you are looking for value for money. It is well located next to all you need, including a super market less than a 4 minute walk away.
Unless you are desperate and want to stay at a hotel on a shoestring, do not stay...
Read moreWe stayed here for one week. It’s spotless clean but rooms were very small. We could hardly move in the bathroom. Shower could use an update but was adequate for what we paid. The breakfast was ham and cheese on a plate between us and given every other day. On the other days we got a boiled egg each. There is cereal to choose and orange juice and rolls. But there’s no variety. We opted out some days. If you’re early risers look us , and fancy a coffee at 6am, you won’t get it. There was no kettle in the room. We also arrived at 11pm and were told our room isn’t ready so we were relocated by car to a different apartment complex across the street. Not ideal considering we paid for 7 nights and travelled the entire day. We were exhausted. The staff are lovely. Loud but friendly. We were checked by 11am and had to wait until 7pm to be picked up. That’s ok as we chose the flights but I think there should be showering facilities for guests who have late flights home. We sat in our own sweat for 8 hours. It’s a nice hotel but honestly would rather pay a bit more for some more comfort and a decent breakfast and a good shower. The young man who works at the snack bar is lovely to deal with. Very nice chap and works hard all day. Air con is available but costs €8 per day. Not ideal for people on a low budget.we didn’t get much sleep either because of a dog barking close by all night long. ALL NIGHT. Overall, it’s a nice place but...
