Ταβέρνα του Βελετάκου — Restaurant in Municipality of Lavreotiki

On Sunday the 23rd of March, my party and I visited this taverna, anticipating a pleasant meal with pre-booked fish. Unfortunately, upon arrival, we were informed that the fish had been sold to other customers. This was disappointing, as we were forced to settle for chips, fried calamari, and salads instead.

However, the primary issue arose several hours after our meal. Myself and other members of my party experienced severe stomach pain and diarrhea. While there was no vomiting, the symptoms were significant and disruptive. Retrospectively, I recall the taverna's general appearance being less than clean. Specifically, I distinctly remember observing the waiter's visibly dirty hands. This observation, combined with the subsequent illness, leads me to strongly suspect a connection between the food handling and our discomfort.

The combination of the unavailable pre-booked meal and the potential foodborne illness has resulted in a thoroughly negative experience. I cannot recommend this taverna and will not be returning. While others may choose to try it, I personally found it to be a regrettable dining experience.

Την Κυριακή 23 Μαρτίου, η παρέα μου και εγώ επισκεφτήκαμε αυτήν την ταβέρνα, περιμένοντας ένα ευχάριστο γεύμα με προκρατημένα ψάρια. Δυστυχώς, κατά την άφιξη, ενημερωθήκαμε ότι τα ψάρια είχαν πουληθεί σε άλλους πελάτες. Αυτό ήταν απογοητευτικό, καθώς αναγκαστήκαμε να αρκεστούμε σε πατατες, τηγανητά καλαμάρια και σαλάτες.

Ωστόσο, το πρωταρχικό ζήτημα προέκυψε αρκετές ώρες μετά το γεύμα μας. Τοσο εγω όσο και άλλα μέλη της παρέας μου βιώσαμε έντονο πόνο στο στομάχι και διάρροια. Ενώ δεν υπήρχε έμετος, τα συμπτώματα ήταν σημαντικά και ενοχλητικά. Αναδρομικά, θυμάμαι ότι η γενική εμφάνιση της ταβέρνας δεν ήταν καθόλου καθαρή. Συγκεκριμένα, θυμάμαι ξεκάθαρα ότι παρατηρούσα τα εμφανώς βρώμικα χέρια του σερβιτόρου. Αυτή η παρατήρηση, σε συνδυασμό με την επακόλουθη ασθένεια, με κάνει να υποψιάζομαι έντονα τη σύνδεση μεταξύ του χειρισμού των τροφίμων και της ταλαιπωρίας μας.

Ο συνδυασμός του μη διαθέσιμου προκρατημένου γεύματος και της πιθανής τροφιμογενούς ασθένειας έχει οδηγήσει σε μια εντελώς αρνητική εμπειρία. Δεν μπορώ να συστήσω αυτήν την ταβέρνα και δεν θα επιστρέψω. Ενώ άλλοι μπορεί να επιλέξουν να το δοκιμάσουν, εγώ προσωπικά το βρήκα ως μια λυπηρή...

Such a lovely restaurant! We mixed up addresses when we arrived in town and got accidentally dropped off around here at night, the owners were sooooo friendly helping us find the right place! Went back for light lunch the next day and it was very good. The baked feta with sesame and honey was fantastic! The potatoes with the split pea and garlic cream were very good. Very good view, quiet chill...

Very Poor service, food wasn't so bad, except for an awful grilled calamaro, waitor guaranteed for fresh, he should at least said the truth admitting that was defrozen - not so fresh.. Also trying to convince me that grilled breams is an appetizer as all grilled fish,to sell more wasn't definitely a good strategic move.. There are many more better...
