We had an absolutely delightful dining experience at this restaurant, with every detail contributing to a memorable evening. The 2023 Lyrarakis Dafni Psarades PGI Crete wine, with its rich and refined taste, was the perfect complement to the meal. We began with a shot of a cold tomato soup, reminiscent of a gazpacho—refreshing and full of flavor.

From the moment we arrived, even without a reservation, the warm and welcoming atmosphere stood out. The staff immediately made us feel at home, offering sparkling water to start and providing attentive service throughout. Even when a dish was initially brought in error, the team quickly noticed and corrected it without any fuss.

The appetizers set a high bar, with the Saganaki cheese being particularly delicious. Paired with a delicate and flavorful jelly, it was a perfect balance of textures and tastes. Communication from the staff was clear and professional, especially regarding the timing of the main course, which we appreciated.

When the mains arrived, we were blown away. The black pork pancetta was wonderfully tender, with the ideal amount of fattiness, served alongside rosemary baby potatoes, a smooth leek-celery purée, and roasted cherry tomatoes. It was an exceptional dish, but the lamb was just as outstanding—unbelievably soft, accompanied by a perfectly cooked lemon rice. The blend of flavors was flawless, making this dish a 10/10.

Dessert was the perfect way to end the evening. The warm Galaktoboureko, with its rich custard filling, was complemented by two scoops of ice cream: one with chocolate-orange notes and the other a creamy yogurt with red fruits. Both were delectable and brought a wonderful balance of sweetness and freshness.

We were then treated to a traditional tangerine ‘submarine’ dessert, a sweet yet tangy treat that was both unique and refreshing. It was an excellent digestif to round off a fantastic meal.

Overall, the combination of excellent food, attentive service, and the inviting atmosphere made for an unforgettable experience. Highly...

I visited this restaurant on Saturday 10th June 2023. The food is amazing. The wine is amazing. And initially so were the waiters. I was on my own and the first waiter to show me to my table was very pleasant the whole time . BUT!!! Some were very rude. After I had finished my meal, I was just left. I wasnt asked if I wanted some desserts or maybe a coffe or perhaps would I like another glass of wine? I waited 30 minutes but no one came over. I had finished my meal,. I had finished my first glass of wine and my water. The restaurant was not busy. I didn't really want to call out but in the end I had to. I decided to ask for another glass of wine to see maybe then the other waiter would notice and ask did I need anything but No. After a little time I saw a young male waiter pass close by me to another table. I noticed a tattoo on one of his arms of it looked like a man, and though I hate tattoos it was like a photograph almost. I tried to call him over and to say that the tattoo was extremely detailed. But he aggressively said, wait! Wait!! I waited as he attended briefly another couple at a table. Then he just ignored me abd went back to standing with his colleagues. When he saw me looking at him he gave me a disgusted look and looked away! Excuse me !what did I do wrong? I was going to purchase some of your oil but as I felt so embarrassed I quickly finished my wine and paid my bill of 32€ and left. Please let me say this... that young man is too rude to to be working in such a lovely restaurant as yours. Was he disturbed because I wasn't wearing my fancy clothing or make up? Shame on him. He shouldn't loose his job, no but please don't let him be like that with any other customers. Sadly I...

TERRIBLE SERVICE EXPERIENCE!!! We were really looking forward to this place. Once we arrived we informed the server that I had a cow dairy allergy - listing "cow milk, cow cheese, cow yogurt etc". He started pointing out quite aggressively and with lots of attitude all the dishes I CANNOT have. That's not the way to go. You point out the dishes the guest CAN have. Then he proceeded to tell me I couldn't have beef carpaccio because it had BEEF MEAT. Are you serious?

We asked about the cheeses that were all explained in the back of the menu and the majority said they were made from goat and sheep - so, great for me. But then he started telling with a pretty loud tone that they were also containing cow. He literally said "Ignore the menu"! Wow! It was a very uncomfortable situation and he clearly didn't seem to have any idea and seemed to not like being asked so many questions (by a woman?!) He got louder and louder and I told him quietly that he wasn't being very nice.

We decided to leave. And to NEVER come back.

Terrible service, no manners and a tad of misogyny. I hope this was his first day as a server because after this it can only get better. Both of us have been working in service and this was one of the worst experiences ever.

Edit: I sent them an email as requested and didn't even receive a reply. That again shows a lot....

I’ve been here twice last year and now a third time this week. I feel like over time the quality of food and service has gotten even better. We visited for a family celebration and all of the staff made sure to make it a special occasion. They were all friendly, polite, and professional. We tried fresh shrimp in kadaifi, mushrooms fricasse, stuffed vine leaves to start (we ordered a saganaki but they forgot to bring it, we chose not to remind them since we decided we probably ordered enough anyway, and it wasn’t added to our final bill). For mains we tried the lamb kebab and burgers, then dessert was the nut pie with passion fruit and chocolate moulleux. As complimentary dishes, we were given some dried bread with pomegranate and cream cheese topping, and at the end of our meal a strawberry galaktoboureko and butter caramel profiteroles. It’s by far the most generous offering of complimentary dishes I’ve had after living in Greece for 7 years. Everything was delicious, especially the dessert and I have no negative comments about any aspect of our meal. We also tried a white sangria which was the best I have ever tasted. I would go back just to drink those alone! I would definitely recommend Thigaterra to friends and family, and will definitely be visiting again.

Such an experience! I found this restaurant based on high reviews and we decided to try it out after a long day of travelling. Ordered an olive oil experience, small goat <<Tsigariasto>> and cretan pasta. The goat meat was so juicy and packed with flavours. The pasta was so rich and was just the right amount of creaminess, not heavy at all. We then had macaron as desserts. It was honestly heaven-like. I really appreciate the understanding and presentation of flavours from the chefs. The waiter was also very experienced and friendly. He explained every dishes patiently and gave us good recommendations on portions and choices. We loved the experience so much that we went for a 2nd time 2 days after. This time we had the phyllo with cretan cream cheese, grilled sardine, organic cretan salad, black pork tenderloin, and Babas and fruit tart as desserts. Food was still amazing although we love the 1st experience better. 100% recommend to try it out if you are in Heraklion. I’d make a booking in advance as it gets quite busy after 9pm.

Great food, somehow disappointing service. We had our last dinner here at Thigaterra, it was a recommendation from our local host. We asked for a table around 18.30 and they explained to us that we would need to leave by 20.30 as there was a private event starting at that time. Everything was going well until the dessert we ordered. We were the last customers in the restaurant and the staff started to argue on the tables arrangement. Moving everything around, buying busy and loud. We sat there with our plate empty for a good 20mins,staff passing around us, sometimes unbusy, ignoring us like we were ghosts. We finally told them we were finished and asked nicely for the bill. They brought it and didn't offer us the traditional raki/dessert (something that the waiter described as a lollipop) that all the tables before us received. If you have an event and are busy, it is understandable but then don't let other customers in, because we did not beg to get in and didn't appreciate how we have been treated.
