Spetseriko — Restaurant in Municipality of Northern Corfu

One of the worst food experiences I’ve had in Greece. The moussaka was a thin layer of burnt aubergines, heavily spiced with cinnamon and cloves, and almost no béchamel. The stuffed squid was chewy and lacking substance. On top of that, the food took a long time to arrive.

When I complained about the moussaka, no solution was offered at the time. Only when we went to pay did the waiter suggest removing it from the bill, but by then it was too late, and I had been left without a proper meal.

I’d just like to clarify a few points for anyone reading: • When I complained about the moussaka, the waiter said he would speak to the chef but never returned with any alternatives. • No replacement or other dish was offered during the meal, only when we went to pay was the moussaka removed from the bill. • I didn’t refuse anything else; simply nothing else was suggested until the end. • I understand that fresh food takes time, but the issue was not the waiting, it was the quality of the dishes served. The moussaka was burnt and overwhelmingly spiced, and the calamari was unfortunately chewy.

We had a really lovely time here. The food was excellent. I had the rooster patsitada, they pre-warned that the meat was still on the bone in case I wished to change my mind (I am so glad I didn't!) The flavours were beautiful and the chicken cooked to perfection. My partner had the lamb kleftiko and, judging by her reaction, this was beautiful too. The restaurant tries to serve locally sourced produce, including food produced on the proprietor farm, as much as possible. Wow what can we say about this place out of our 11 night holiday we ate here for 3 of them. The food here is so fresh so many of the ingredients come from the owners own farm and you can really tell. The greek salad here was one of the best I've ever eaten. My son had the mixed meat every night we visited and loved it, my favourite dish I had was the giant beans - delicious.
