I slept on this review before writing this as I was too upset right after the experience. Mostly at the fact that in over 30 years of visiting San Stefanos, our happy place, I had never encountered a rude abrupt Greek person, until last night. We had starters that had fish in which should have been chilled not warm. Three of us spat the first mouthful out saying that tastes wrong. We didn't jump up and down about it, just let the really nice waiter that served us know. He removed them. The rest of our meal was great. No one came to speak to us about the issue or to rectify it. When the 151 euros bill came at the end of our meal, the inedible starters were still on the there, 15 euros. I politely approached the manager to ensure the chef knew the fish wasn't right. I question if he was Greek by his response. He threw his arms in the air and said "you pay, we checked and it was fine, you have to pay" I wasn't intending not to pay, just to let them know as no one came to see us at the table. Very unprofessional in the first instance. However we remained polite. Had the manager taken the 15 euros off anyway,,, we would have left that as a tip. We respectfully paid the full bill with no tip. This experience really upset me, however I will not let unprofessional management skills from one person whom I'm still unsure was Greek, tar my views and love for true Greeks in San Stefanos. This man needs to work on customer service and management skills as this is my profession back home in the catering industry and never would I speak to a customer in this way and would have sent the chef out to the table in the beginning to rectify the issue. Plus I would never send warm fish that should be chilled out...
Read moreShocking to be honest, avoid at all costs. so we came in just the three of us and it wasn’t very busy, we ordered starters which were all just meh very clearly shop bought hummus & bread claims to come with oil too but just came with packet butter, for a posh looking restaurant you really expect more especially for what you’re paying, our mains came after a while and all i can say is LIDL chips, heated up meats and flavourless sauces, we were expecting a lot more. we usually never ever complain but we were really disappointed, we commented on what we thought and all we got back was defensive staff and denying the things we say when it’s clear as day, £85 for all this was crazy too us. we barely ate anything and were all still hungry we didn’t feel it was fair to pay that, we did. because even though we thought it didn’t deserve the money we are decent people but the way they reacted said everything we needed to know, we would of been happy to pay even half for what we got but they did not offer they and took offence to everything we said instead of taking it on board and accepting constructive criticism, anyway i highly wouldn’t recommend unless you want to be severely disappointed...
Read moreI recently visited The Cicala and, while the ambiance was pleasant and the majority of the dishes were satisfactory, our experience was marred by a significant issue. The prawn cocktail we ordered was not cooked properly, with the prawns appearing raw and warm instead of chilled. This was not only disappointing but also concerning from a food safety perspective.
When we raised this issue with the staff, they were polite and receptive to our complaint. However, the manager's response was extremely disappointing. He outright refused to acknowledge the problem and was dismissive of our feedback. This lack of accountability and unwillingness to accept constructive criticism is unacceptable for any dining establishment.
While there were some positive aspects to our visit, the manager's refusal to address our legitimate concern left a very negative impression. It's crucial for restaurants to be open to feedback to improve their service and ensure customer satisfaction. Unfortunately, The Cicala failed in this regard.
Overall, despite some good points, the handling of our complaint by the management was highly unsatisfactory and overshadowed our...
