Fab fab fab food. But...
Took my wife here for a special night out. Not the cheapest, but, I'd hoped one of the best. Extremely rushed, at the end of our main course (as we put knifes and forks down etc), plates swiped away. Was looking forward to a proper Greek desert, maybe a coffee etc. As the plates were taken away, I was asked if I wanted the bill. So we paid, and left.
On a side note, on the table next to us was a woman, clearly looking after her elderly mother, who had mobility issues (using a walker). They went to use the bathroom, and 2 minutes after they left, their main course was delivered to their table. And it sat there. After 5 minutes, I asked the head waiter if he could put it back into the kitchen/ oven, as if I was looking after my mum, I'd not want her to have cold food. He said more or less it wasn't his problem. I then saw the owner, and said the same. He then took it away. As the 2 ladies were making their way back to the table, they were being hurriedly followed by the waiter with the food... 10 minutes + it would have been sat... I understand that going to use the bathroom at the wrong time doesn't help, however, a bit of thought towards the customers would have gone a long way...
But. Food we had was fab.
Won't be returning. In the 4 times we've been to Corfu, never had service, or lack...
Read moreThis is probably the prettiest seaside Taverna with soft green painted wickerwork and a profusion of plants with the most intrusive and interfering service we have ever experienced! My cheese pies tiropikita had a liquid mousse like interior which squirted out of the deep fried filo shell and was just not right. I left two thirds of the plate and the inexperienced waiter cleared without asking whether everything was alright. Earlier he hasn't understood that sparkling water wasn't still water. He was just not very good but a woman with a badge that said Head Waitress, actually only waitress would have been accurate, kept interrupting our conversation and took away my plate before my companion had finished eating. There were miniature olive oil bottles on the table which I had used on a salad and this bottle was taken away and replaced while we were mid meal. There is no way that the Galini Taverna is at 'the top of its game' unless of course its game is in the bottom division. We drank the house rose.. average. The food was OK but nothing to...
Read moreTaverna Galini is one of those places that instantly makes you feel at home. It’s cozy and has that laid back Greek island charm that you hope for when you’re on holiday. The view and setting are beautiful, but it’s the food and people that really make it special.
The menu is filled with authentic Greek dishes and freshly prepared seafood that truly highlight the flavors of the region. Every dish feels homemade and thoughtfully crafted. Portions are generous and the quality of ingredients really shines through.
The seafood especially is so fresh and cooked simply but perfectly - exactly how it should be. Nothing feels rushed - just really good, authentic food.
The staff were friendly, attentive and genuinely happy to chat or recommend dishes without being pushy. It felt more like being welcomed into someone’s home than just eating at a restaurant.
If you’re in Agios Stefanos, you can’t go wrong with Taverna Galini. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to come back to more than once...
