I normally only post for excellence or for shocking. This one I felt I had to review as I have never been treated so rudely as I was by the owner (who I think is the rude waiter everyone else has referred to)
The Italian chef and the Italian woman (maybe owner's wife) were lovely - I had to go in to explain the fact that I was celiac. But the owner / waiter ruined the whole experience. Not only did I watch him flirting outrageously with the attractive women at neighbouring tables, but his 'lady I have reservations!!!!' rude demand flung at me at 9.31pm (instead of a polite - 'excuse me, but I have a reservation for this table - are you ok for me to bring you the bill?') was downright insulting. I had NOT been told the table had a booking in 1.5 hours when I arrived - so his brusqueness was incredibly unpleasant as was his overall demeanour throughout the meal.
The sardines were a tiny bit overcooked; the salmon carpaccio was good, as was the white wine by the glass.
I'll never go back and the Italian owners of the villa I'm staying in (who have lived on Paxos for 20 years) said his reputation on the island is no better than my personal view, and that they never eat there...
Read moreWe arrived quite late with no reservation before, but they manage to arrange a table for us party of three! The restaurant was recommended by an Italian friend! We tried the fresh craw-fish the local shrimps the fresh pasta the beans and the seafood risotto! All the plates were excellent, perfectly seasoned with a unique taste! The chef, a nice lady from Bari that I have met as I was passing by the kitchen to greet for the great dinning experience was looking exhausted! I have appreciated her effort to create so tasteful plates! Service was quite slow, thats what I thought at the beginning, but during the dinning experience, I realized that there was a satisfied flow that kept us engaged! This is not a fast food place like the most of the summer restaurants in Greek islands! This is a restaurant that...
Read moreGreek food meet the skills of an Italian head Chef; and it works amazingly. The kouzini starter were spot on, the aubergine with ricciola and tomato were incredible, as well as the souffle. InTIn paccheri with sea food you could taste the sea meeting the sweetness of the tomato. The grilled Octopus was also really tasty. The service was kind and sharp. The tiramisu was good but lacking a bit of egg taste. I was impressed. Not giving 5 star because the amount of food in the main dishes is a bit too little... otherwise this might be the best restaurant we tested on Gaios. Everything was freshly made and products...
