We loved the food here, only discovered it on our penultimate night and decided we had to come again on our final night in Gaios! Traditional Greek food with an Italian influence too…you can choose to eat from a variety of meze plates (which means you get to try more utterly scrumptious things!) or individual meals. We had the Greek mushrooms in a rosemary sauce (delicious - I need the recipe!), Italian bruschetta, salad with figs and prosciutto, creamy chicken pasta, beef sofrito, feta and spinach pie, and smoked fish fillets served on a bed of taramasalata with tomatoes. (Sorry not to include more pictures in our review - we forgot to take photos as the food was too tempting!) Gorgeous food and friendly service from a husband and wife team. It’s small, so probably best to book if you don’t want to be disappointed. 100% recommended. Thank you Fanalino, we hope to be back, and we will fondly remember and dream of your food for a long,...
Read moreThe food was ok, but the service was a sequence small but consistent inconveniences/ disrespectful treatment. We were 3 and we seat down at a table for 4, so the lady asked us to change to a table for 2, which we did. A table in the middle of a tiny corridor that every time they had to pass they would push the 3rd chair where one of us was.
Then before we finished our meal, instead of asking for a party of 3 to wait until they had available space, they started moving the 3rd chair while asking if they could do so, before getting an answer, so a couple with their teenage son could sit down at another table for 2 were there’s no room for either parties to move or properly sit by the table.
I understand that sometimes we need to adjust in public spaces to accommodate everyone, and on this trip we had wait to be seated in other restaurants exactly because they had only tables for 2, so I don’t understand...
Read moreThe food was really good, I only had one simple plate with a Giros meat portion.
They promised 250gr of meat, which is a good portion size, but they did skim on it a bit.
In terms of flavor, it was wonderful, beautifully grilled and seasoned, not too much oil, on the other hand, the "salad" provided on the side, honestly, no idea how four slices of onion and tomato could be considered a salad, I knew what to expect fortunately because I live in Greece, but a tourist would definitely be unhappy with it.
It was a little loud, at no fault of the establishment since its the center of Gaios, and there wasn't much atmosphere inside or much personality in terms of the design of the chairs and seating outside so it was a bit of a mess.
In summary, the food was incredible, and portions can be a bit small and pricey. It's definitely a fun hangout location but I wouldn't recommend it to a large family...
