Absolutely the best spot on Rethymno Beach! We were truly impressed and delighted by our experience at Takis Place—both the beach and the taverna. Everything written on the sign in front of the beach is 100% true!

The taverna serves outstanding traditional Greek food, prepared with love and authenticity. It’s a proper local gem with a cozy, down-to-earth atmosphere. The waiters are incredibly welcoming, as are the staff on the beach—honestly, hats off to the whole team. Their hospitality is unmatched, and we highly recommend visiting.

One of the most unique features is the extensive beer selection—they have nearly 100 different kinds of beer on the menu, which is really impressive! Even better, the full taverna menu is available on the beach—you can simply relax under your umbrella and order food and drinks directly to your sunbed.

The beach setup is top-notch: the shade from the umbrellas is excellent, the sunbeds are extremely comfortable with cushions and headrests, and they are cleaned daily. The best part? The sunbed set (umbrella + 3 sunbeds) is free of charge—you just need to order food or drinks for a minimum of €10 per person. Since there were three of us sharing one umbrella, we only needed to spend €25 in total—amazing value for money.

Called in last evening, the place was about half full and I was on my own, my partner wasn't feeling well enough to accompany me and their beer offering, which was marvellous, tempted me in, I was really looking forward to having a comforting bowl of moussaka with the delicious meaty, creamy sticky sauce, the long strands of sticky cheese with the soft pasta inside and the tasty aubergine and the caramelised top that makes you want to clean your dish..... Unfortunately this was none of those things, maybe there's a regional variation but this wasn't enjoyable in the least I persevered but couldn't eat more than a quarter of it, it was awful! I also ordered it with bread, this turned out to be supermarket sliced loaf which was dry, the server swapped it but it was still supermarket sliced and packaged loaf awful again, I tried it with oil but I couldn't change it's origins! Surroundings, staff, service and beer were all acceptable but nothing special, I won't call again especially with so much contest in...

This is a Meze place, like a Spanish tapas but Greek style of course. We ordered grilled prawns it was a good size portion, Fava with octopus and a couple of other plates. The octopus was succulent and the Fava one of the best I've had, I can't remember what else we ordered plus ouzo to drink. The food was excellent. The ouzo was a good quality name brand.

This is not a cheap tourist place, it's a place that the locals also go to. I like good food and good service so for me it was worth every euro and will definitely go again.
