Honestly, this was the best meal we've had all week! We're gutted that we discovered it on our last night. This small, family-run restaurant, located almost opposite the pharmacy, offers exceptional value for money compared to other establishments. The food is simply divine.
We began with the 'mixed selection,' which included tzatziki, spiced feta whip, hummus, and their unique take on baba ganoush, all accompanied by their own garlic pita. Every item was perfectly seasoned and tasted delicious. We also tried the deep-fried kasseri cheese and the stuffed vine leaves.
At this point (two adults and one teenager), we were already feeling quite full but had already ordered the mixed grill. Fortunately, we ordered it for two people not three! The portions were generous, the flavours were outstanding, and once again, there was an abundance of food. We couldn't manage to finish it all.
I cannot stress enough how superior this restaurant is compared to others. We've dined at six other, much more expensive places, and this was by far the best meal we had all week. It's definitely worth a visit—or three. The owners are also extremely lovely and welcoming, and the drinks are more reasonably priced than...
Read moreOur last afternoon I realised that, while Pefkos has lots of bars, cocktail bars, restauants and clubs, it doesn't appear to have any old-school tavernas. That night I discovered that I was wrong.
Delight is easy to miss, sitting as it does, directly opposite the impressive Laurenzo's Restaurant. But, go into this unassuming place and you'll quickly see why it is named 'Delight'. Whilst owner Tassos turns out a range of classic traditional Greek dishes, his wife, the delightful Joanna, waits on table with cheerful energy and friendliness that characvterises the famous 'philoxenia' or Greek hospitality.
Our team of four adults and one nine-year old were treated like royalty and the food was equally of outstanding quality. We were shocked, after two very late night arrivals 2.00am in 2023 and 11.30pm this year (2024) to learn that this taverna stays open until 4.00am to actually cater for this! If you're looking for the Greece that you fell in love with back in the 1980s then Delight...
Read moreWith so many big restaurants on the main road to tout for your custom, you can easily walk past this small family run tavern without even noticing it, then you would have missed this gem of a tavern.
As you walk in, you will either be greeted by the lady or her young daughter (maybe 10 years old) who will show you to your table and offer you the menu. The lady does all the waitressing and I believe it is her husband that does the cooking.
Service is attentive and friendly, food is very nice, (meat is tender and not dry) and the price reasonable. The chef would pop out during the course of the evening to say hi and to check if you enjoyed your meal.
Upon getting the bill, the lady offered us complimentary a liquor shot and a slice of cake. That is a nice touch and the cake was really delicious.
We visited twice and it was very nice on both occasions. As we left the lady expressed heart felt appreciation for our custom and we felt valued. Highly...
