First time I have been to Pefkos, the place is beautiful. I stayed in this hotel it was lovely, the facilities were there and you had breakfast at poolside which was really nice. The pool is lovely but next doors guests can use it too so can get crowded. There is a steep long bank to the hotel so not good for people who can’t manage, the taxis will charge €3-€7 to take you up it though. The room isn’t as great as what the website states (according to regular visitors) the superior rooms are more or less just the same as the standard ones the only difference is the luxury poolside beds, a slightly larger glass balcony and a jet wash shower and apparently the price is a lot steeper than standard. Also it was €130 for air-con and a safe key, double than I’ve paid before (even after inflation) and this came out of my budget on the first day, I arrived late too on first night I never got air-con as the host had gone so I had to arrange it for the next day so that’s about €18 a day for use of air-con for 6 nights so you make your own mind up about the value of that… Now I need to mention this too because I’d want to know so others need to be warned. The host was lovely at first… Then she turned out to be not so nice after-all. She was lovely and so friendly couldn’t do more for you but the menu was pricey (€8 for a small bowl of chips) and then on top of that I was short changed a good few times for items I knew the price of via the menu which added up to about €15/€20. Now I know that isn’t a lot but when it adds up it is. I never mentioned this because at first I thought it was a mistake until I then asked for a change of towels when I was quoted €48!! I’d already been there 2 days so this was for a new set of clean towels over 5 days- that’s about €10 a day extra. Absolutely extortionate when I said I just wanted one lot (they change the towels every 3 days so I just asked for mine to be changed a day early) I then asked if I could have late check out as I wasn’t going to the airport until late when the host said yes but for €30. The next day this changed to €40!! I didn’t ask for anything extra either and she asked for the payment to be in cash only so it’s obvious what’s going on there! I then spoke to a few other guests about this and they said the same thing happened to them, not to mention one of them warned me that she’s been secretly doing it for years (regular visitors) and that nothing goes through the till it’s all cash and a calculator… so a lot of people know what’s going on, very fishy. She also picked and chose who she liked and didn’t like, she’d let some people use glasses and drink round the pool and in the pool yet I was sometimes given plastic cups if I wanted to do that which made me realise she had her favourites which doesn’t look very good when running a business as people like me don’t miss a trick and then a review like this happens- what do you expect?! If you go here it’s a lovely hotel with beautiful views and there’s no doubt you will be looked after and waited on hand and foot, there’s no doubt about that but do yourself a favour and be on your guard because I lost about €20-€30 if not more on this holiday because of short changing and funny money business and it isn’t nice being swindled when you are already paying a lot to be there and on top of that it spoils the holiday, preventing being able to do other things and affecting my budget etc. Now for anyone that thinks I’m exaggerating here- just as perspective; imagine €15/€20 extra taken off 12 paying guests which I believe is how many rooms there are at the hotel, that’s about €240 extra profit in just a week for nothing and on top of everything else. Just pure greed. Other than that the other staff there are so lovely and couldn’t have done more to help but due to what happened above I won’t be coming back to stay here again which is such a shame. Read moreI have never actually stayed here but have recently stayed at the adjoining property (Stella view apartments). Upon arrival via taxi, I was directed to what I was told was the entrance / reception area, a woman greeted me quite abruptly and requested my booking information as she had no guests due. When I provided it she told me I was at the wrong place, go away she was not there to help me and pointed me in the direction of another building, after re-checking our booking I already had the information to obtain our key for the room at Stella view. When we were leaving 2 days later, again my taxi collected me from the entrance to pefkos view, as the property’s are joined I thought there would be no issue with walking past the pool bar / pool area (where I had spent money just that afternoon) to meet my taxi. The same lady who greeted us when we arrived rushed out from behind the bar and blocked my route, ‘shoo-ing’ us back the other way and became quite aggressive, I tried to explain I had never been here before and thought it was ok to use this route but the lady became very argumentative and aggressive towards us, invading my personal space. When the taxi driver intervened and helped me with my baggage into the car she began arguing in Greek with him, before returning to English solely to call us all sorts of names and again become aggressive and invade our personal space. After again trying to explain I had not been here before and apologising for taking the incorrect route and advising I did not know there was 2 gates / separate entrances for the 2 properties the lady continued to tell us we were stupid, must watch who we are speaking too and to not return. Needless to say, I will NEVER return and give her any of my custom, a simple mistake was made due to a miscommunication and I felt it was dealt with extremely badly on her behalf. I was embarrassed and humiliated by the way she was going on as other guests witnessed it. An older Greek gentleman had to come outside and accompany her back inside whilst seeming to apologise to us? The reviews on here seem to praise the staff at this property for going over and above so I am not sure if she simply did not like us, did not take kindly to our genuine error or was just having 2 bad days when we seemed to interact with her but either way, it was highly unprofessional. Read moreI booked 2 rooms and was impacted by the fires in Rhodes on the 22nd of July.
We arrived at the hotel and requested we cancel the 2 rooms I had booked. The owner said it was too late and that she could not assist us, so she said you have to check in or loose your money. we expressed our concern as the fires were in a neighbouring village.
The owner was dismissive.
So we decided to check in because the roads back to Rhodes centre were closed off due to the extensive fires.
After the owner had shown us to our rooms and checked us in, she then mentioned that there is no electricity or water due to the fires. so I asked what do we do and she responded you just have to wait, so I replied its over 40 degrees outside and the room has no air-con.
I couldn't cancel the room to get a refund to go to another hotel in an area where it was further or not impacted by the fires or go back to Rhodes Centre, we then changed into our swimmers and sat by the pool and could smell the fire and could see ashes in the air. We were devostated, so we stayed close to the hotel. Before midnight we got an update from the greek government to vacate the hotel and packed our bags and drove back to Rhodes center.
I requested a refund for the full amount as the behaviour of the owner was insincere at the time of check in and hid information prior to the check in and could not fulfil the the obligations or services advertised during the very short stay,
They didn't even give us a bottle of cold water, we didn't have electricity in the room, so we didn't have air conditioning and the hotel didn't even have an electricity generator.
I sent a message to the owner of the hotel and to booking.com requesting a refund but it was declined by the owner of the establishment.
I am extremely saddened by the behaviour of the hotel management and would not recommend anyone to stay there.
I have travelled to over 40 countries and have never experienced such poor customer service.
