Came here as a party of 6 for my daughters birthday. We arranged a table near the back end of the restaurant facing out to the beach. Everything seemed fine until the food arrived. 2 of us that ordered the lasagna discovered it to be cold in the middle. The waiter took our plates without apology and we waited on getting them back. By the time they had stuck them back in the oven and we got them back (I expected a fresh one to be honest) all our sides were now cold and the rest of the party had finished.
Not wanting to ruin her birthday we finished up our meals. We had secretly planned for a birthday cake to come out with a candle in to surprise my daughter. At the time of booking we were told it was €9 for the cake, perfect. The cake (well, a brownie) cake out and we sang happy birthday, all good.
We went to pay the bill and I noticed it said €18 for the "cake" when I questioned this I was told it was 2 brownies, what an absolute rip off. For a start we only asked for one "cake" and they had the audacity to charge us for 2. Again, not wanting to ruin the night I reluctantly paid.
I am pretty mad at myself at not putting up more of a fight. I thought at the very least a review was in order to warn others of this place and their underhanded techniques to draw more money out of you.
Food: Okay, lasagna didn't have much flavour and was cold in the middle.
Service: Rushed and the fact they have ripped us off says it all. No apology for the cold food.
Atmosphere: Was an okay vibe, absolutely red hot with no fans or air con. We were all dripping with sweat by the end of our meals.
Cost: Quite expensive compared to other restaurants nearby, (cold) lasagna €16 and dare I mention the €18 brownie again!
Recommend: Absolutely not. You should be able to enjoy a meal without the fear of getting scammed or your meal being cold halfway through eating it. Rip off prices and below standard service. Do not recommend...
Read moreI was going to this restaurant alone as I am on solo vacation. And at first they were nice, but after I while I felt very uncomfortable there. They didn’t look at me when I got my food, which by the way was not worth the money. I ordered the salmon salad which was 90% baby leaves. Anyways, they walked past me and didn’t look at me all the time, so I felt very much in the way… Then one of the waiters snatched the second chair at my table without looking at me or asking me… I did not feel welcome or seen. I felt like an idiot, and that made me not finish my food because I just wanted to pay and get out of there.
I bet they are nice people, but if they can’t make a 23 year old girl who’s sitting alone feel welcome, I don’t think it matters much. They made me feel like I did something wrong, but I just did my sudoku in peace and smiled. Idk. Not happy.
Would not recommend. Prices are high and I have had much better food other places. Maybe their pizzas and pastas...
Read morePhillip, one of the owners, taught me one of the best lessons of my life: ‘Why do you drink espresso in the morning as you do in your business days? Start your vacation day with a beer not to wake up but to get in the laziness mood. Go for a swim, get another beer and lay on a sun bed or read.’ Cutting the rhythm of my daily life this was the existential lesson Phillip taught me 8 years ago and this is why I went back. I looked for it and he provided it, again, in the unchanged atmosphere. Good food, not necessarily the most Greek or Rhodesian, but with fair pizzas and gyros (and prices ;) )Thanks @Porto Bello staff and location. One of the (only) places I will always remember and return. Keep your spirit and quality as is. Don’t change with the time. Thank...
