A Mixed Dining Experience at Rattan in Faliraki. During my recent visit to Faliraki, I dined at Rattan, a beautifully designed, high-end restaurant where the ambiance set the stage for what should have been an exceptional evening. I decided to treat my and my partner to a 260€ dinner. However, the experience had some hiccups. The service lacked warmth, the host was distant and indifferent, didn't make us feel very welcome, not a big deal, but it's fine dining, and details matter. Speaking of details we had a repeated issue of stained glasses—both for wine and water—it was particularly disappointing given the high prices. We asked new glass in the beginning but we gave up when they kept bringing at times some dirty glasses. We opted for the 10-course menu with wine pairings, which began with an amouse bouche, a lemon macaron with cream cheese and smoked salmon. The macaron was dry and overly sweet the sweetness overpowered the other flavors. Presentation like with every other dish was beautiful. Thankfully, the meal improved from there. The fresh-made bread with browned butter was good, and dishes like the seabream filet with fish broth and crab croquette with lime gel were creative and delicious. The lamb course and black garlic cauliflower risotto also impressed. The wine pairings were excellent but were often served long after the dish arrived, which was frustrating because the small gourmet portion would get cold before we could even taste it with the wine. It seemed that only one waiter was responsible for the wine, and when he was busy, the rest of the staff didn’t seem to know what to serve, leading to delays that impacted the overall experience, one waiter even came and poured the red wine in the white wine glass that we had just used. The meal ended on a disappointing note with two similar desserts served back-to-back— two desserts served in glass, the salted caramel dessert was good and it had a nice complexity, with different textures and temperatures. After we received a similar dessert in glass this time with chocolate, honestly they were too alike and lacked the variety and craftsmanship I expected for such a high-end meal.Overall, Rattan excels in ambiance and offers some standout dishes, there is a team of professionals in the kitchen and they have for sure a creative take on food, also the maitre d' Is to commend for the service but his attention was shared between too many task. the inconsistent service and lack of attention to detail detracted from the experience, making it fall short of the high expectations set by its price point. With a better organised service and rigorous attention to detail this meal would have been much much better, unfortunately even though I enjoyed the food the experience wasn't really worth the price. I look forward to visit in the...
Read moreAn Absolute Must in Rhodes! We just had dinner at Rattan Cuisine & Cocktail, and it was without a doubt the best dining experience of our trip to Rhodes! From beginning to end, everything was simply perfect.
From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the owner, whose passion for hospitality shines through. The evening started with cocktails that were meticulously crafted, showing real attention to detail.
The food was outstanding — every dish, from starter to dessert, was delicately prepared and beautifully presented. The white grouper was cooked to perfection, with a subtle sauce that elevated the fish without overpowering it. The steak was also perfectly cooked, juicy, and flavorful. The owner’s wine cellar is impressive, and his recommendation of a glass to pair with my meat was spot on, showing both expertise and enthusiasm.
And then came dessert… truly the best I’ve had in a long time — the perfect ending to a flawless meal.
The service throughout the evening was equally remarkable: attentive, kind, and thoughtful down to the smallest detail. The team made us feel special, and it was clear that their goal is to deliver the highest quality experience possible.
We left with big smiles and the feeling of having enjoyed not just a dinner, but a memorable evening. This restaurant is a true gem, and absolutely worth a stop during your...
Read moreQuite disappointed with Rattan. From the outside the place looks very intriguing and exciting, but the reality is different.
I asked for a glass of dry white wine but got a very flowery and fruity white wine which wasn't what I expected. I tried to explain twice what I was looking for, but the waiter didn't understand.
In my opinion the food is overpriced, not very creative and lacks flavour. The vitello tonato is pulling the food up from 1 star to 2 stars, but the rest didn't do much good (bread; deconstructed moussaka; sea brass; risotto).
We had our baby with us and asked for a baby chair but got the one for a toddler - the waiter didn't know how to assemble it and it was too big for her 7 months old body. We weren't offered a smaller one. When another family arrived with a toddler they got the baby chair and I asked if they had one alike but they didn't. So clearly the waiter(s) didn't know whom should use what or what's suitable.
The (I assume) owner was constantly overlooking the restaurant and the guest which was a bit annoying for us to feel looked at most of the time. Let your staff do their job and stay out of the service area - atleast if you don't plan to welcome or talk to guests.
Next door restaurant is more worth the visit, and for less money and better (and...
