I really wanted to leave the BEST review after our first time visiting…
We came for lunch right after our hike. There were only a few tables. Everyone was SO nice. They gave water and watermelon for free. The lamb was TO DIE FOR. And Mousaka amazing as well. Bathrooms were super clean. Beer was amazing. All of it was so freaking good we went to the beach and then we came back for more beers and to await the ferry…
At that point they were busy almost every table full but they were attentive to everyone else. And we experienced the worst service we’ve had in Greece. They gave us a table. And then ignored us for 15 minutes. No menu. We kept trying to make eye contact and every wait person ignored us. They gave menu to the two tables that sat down after us- and took their drinks. And brought them. The table next to us that came after them even had their food AND drinks before we had our menus. Finally a guy came over and said “can I help you with something?” And brought the menu.
Then they gave us the wrong beer despite us pointing and him repeating back.
Then when we waved them down for the bill they tried charging us for things we didn’t order.

Read moreHot off the ferry from Chora Sfakion, we needed a room for two nights and thought Calypso looked promising. We were welcomed warmly and shown a room. We knew immediately that Calypso was perfect for us - very clean, comfy bed and a shady balcony for enjoying the sea view.|Two days later after great walks up the gorge and to the castle, great local food and wonderful swims, we didn’t want to leave, so we stayed 2 more!|Air con was great but even better was sleeping with it off by the light of the moon and stars, listening to the sigh of the waves on the beach below.|We will be back next year. Thank you for the warm welcome, fresh and tasty food, the lovely room, advice on walks and some fantastic lyre playing in the evening. |Calypso is so correctly named - we felt like Odysseus so content with Calypso that he didn’t...
Read moreI have stayed here on a number of occasions, gradually increasing the length of time I stay. ||I stayed in a room with a balcony at the side, which gave me a good view of the sea and mountains. The room was spacious and clean, and the en-suite shower room was spacious, clean and with an efficient shower and plentiful hot water.||Breakfast included delicious home-made preserves, which is something I always appreciate as I, too, make my own jam and marmalade. The dinner menu offers an interesting range of dishes prepared with local produce, which are always fresh and well-presented.||This is a family-run business which takes pride in the standard of service it provides and is always very welcoming. I hope to be able to make more visits...
