Kyma Cafe & Bar — Restaurant in Municipality of Sfakia

Came to this place as we couldn't bring ourselves to do the easy Samaria Gorge walk as the heat was far too intense. The staff here are lovely, we got 2 sun loungers and an umbrella for €10. We didn't eat here but drank. The service was brilliant, I'm grateful for the staff who ran back and forth to get our drinks and always had a smile on his face although the heat was so bad. The sun loungers might not be in their best condition as it's a bit worn and old but it does the job. Consider the 'beach' itself it's more pebbles and little stones rather than sand. We had a lovely time chilling and the hammock inside the bar was a nice touch. The only downside is the bathroom does not have a lock on it but it's clean. I would say be fast when you use the bathroom and push against the door.

I would also like to add that I noticed someone commented about the bar overlooking the changing room and I've taken a picture standing up from the bar towards the beach. No, you cannot see anything. The only thing you will see is someone...

Ahia roumeli is quite grim but this place is a particularly low bar. Octopus was tough and rubbery and inexplicably sprinkled with dried oregano. Chips were of the frozen variety. Portions were small. Still cost 15 euros which is at the upper end of the Crete price bracket. Coffee may have been instant, hard to say. The toilet has no lock or toilet seat, and a bucket overflowing with used toilet paper. Seating looks directly down onto the beach changing room which feels a bit voyeuristic. Can you rate zero stars? It took three of them to decide how much to charge (overcharge!) us for a milkshake and were the rudest and most indifferent wait staff imaginable. We were the only ones sitting at their tables and when I moved to sit at the next table because my seat happened to be in the hot sun the waitress came over to me and told me I couldn't sit there because I was now using two tables! NO ONE ELSE WAS THERE!!! Save your money and go anywhere...
