The food was neither the best, not bad, though overall, I would not choose Symposio again. The restaurant is located at the end of Vathi beach, with a beautiful view of Vathi. Foodwise, I would rate with 3.5 stars as not all dishes were equally good: chick pea soup was good, though a bit salty; sardines (a rather straightforward dish) were nice; cucumbers in horiatiki salad were tasteless (utterly unacceptable for summertime); and lastly I had a very hard time eating a casserole dish containing squid mixed with rice, as rice was extremely undercooked. The owner is extremely friendly and chatty, and whilst I generally appreciate this approach, he completely highjacked our conversation and we could not eat at peace. In general, I try to give feedback to restaurant owners on the spot about the food (especially if they give me the impression that they would appreciate such feedback) but on this occasion I chose not to comment on absolutely anything because this was likely to spark another half an hour of monologue. I'm very sorry that I am only able to provide feedback through this online channel and I hope that the owner (whom I am otherwise very happy to have met) will still consider this useful and...
Read moreThis restaurant is a bit overlooked because it is furthest towards the one side of the mountain, but nevertheless it is absolutely amazing. We lived at Vathi beach for 8 days, and this was the best place for dinner we encountered. It is authentic, quiet compared to the other restaurant, and the food is of higher quality. Furthermore, the family who runs the restaurant, are such nice people. George, the son, who was our waiter for all our dinners, was a very intelligent and polite guy, who gave great suggestions on both food and wine. You sit 0.5-2 metres from the water, depending on high or low waters. It is amazing. HIGHLY...
Read moreThe best little taverna in Vathi beach! There are a few located in the bay, and this one is a little bit more out of the way, but I cannot recommend this place enough. The food was delicious and fresh. Every day we came back and tried something new. Especially recommend trying the chickpea soup, the slow cooked lamb and the meatballs (and I barely ever eat meat!)
You sit right on the beach, right by the water. It is family run and the people are truly the loveliest. We were on Sifnos for our honeymoon, which we mentioned to them, and on our last night they gave us two handmade ceramic cups as a small...
