First up - this is not a fish restaurant. So don't thing that just because it's on the water it has to be a fish restaurant. It ain't. So stick to the salads and meats on offer. The roasted pork medallions and cheeses are particularly good, as are the salads. Service is extremely good and it's walk in. Top Tip: leave it until three to eat there - between noon and two you can get a lot of couples with very young kids. On our first visit, our early lunch was more than a little spoilt by an interminably obnoxious American woman who gave a loud running commentary throughout courses whilst home schooling her child at a vocal pitch beyond patronising. I'm not anti-children - I'm anti-parents who think it's perfectly okay to spoil other people's attempt at a peaceful and otherwise totally enjoyable repast in a quiet and delightful corner of a grown ups Island. There are only a few places left on the planet for young couples and retirees to enjoy a bit of calm and tranquility, without having to share it with folk who think the world is either deaf or interested in their fitness regime. If you are like me, leave it until three in the afternoon and you'll have a far...
Read moreWe visited the place around 11am, sat at a table and ordered two beers. Around noon, we decided to take a quick dip in the sea, and that’s when the owner came over and very rudely told us that swimming is not allowed. There was no sign or notice anywhere about this policy, and no one had informed us when we sat down. On top of that, all the other tables were doing the same, so I really don’t understand why we were singled out.
We politely explained that we were planning to have lunch shortly, so it’s not like we were just taking up the table, and he sarcastically asked, “Exactly how long from now?” When we said "maybe in half an hour or an hour," he looked visibly annoyed and walked away. It’s worth mentioning there were around 10 empty tables at that time.
The food itself was mediocre and reheated. When we went to pay, we saw the three microwaves they use to serve dishes within minutes of ordering.
Overall, a very disappointing experience, especially compared to the warm hospitality and excellent food we enjoyed everywhere else in Sifnos. The spot is beautiful, but I’d recommend going just for a swim at the beach right next to it — skip...
Read moreAlthough the location seems appealing—tables placed directly on the sand next to the beach—our experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. We initially ordered beers, which were served warm, not cold at all.
Around lunchtime, the owner approached us with an incredibly rude and unprofessional attitude, telling us we couldn’t keep the table and swim because he expected the restaurant to get busy. We explained that we intended to eat there and would order in about 30 minutes to an hour since it was only 12 p.m. His response? A very aggressive and dismissive “1 hour???”—again, completely unprofessional.
We ordered a salad, tzatziki, fava, octopus, and calamari. The food arrived within seconds, clearly pre-prepared, and unfortunately, the quality was mediocre. When I went inside to pay, I saw three microwaves running non-stop, reheating food—confirming our suspicions.
This was by far the worst dining experience of our trip to Sifnos. The beach itself is lovely, and we’d highly recommend visiting it—but skip this restaurant. There’s a nice tree nearby that provides shade, and you can enjoy the beach with your own...
