The best restaurant in Vourvourou.
✨ The Mystilli has easily become one of my favorite restaurants of all time. We've been there twice within two days and would have come again if we had discovered it earlier.
💁🏻♀️ The service is exceptional. The owner Dimitris is a wonderful human being. He offered - and delivered! - us tourists whom he barely knew to get some medicine from the pharmacy the next morning. Beyond that, he is always smiling, sends out a welcoming warmth to all of his customers, likes to joke, has a keen eye and knows the menu in and out. Although I asked for a recommendation, it seemed like he couldn't decide. In the end, I knew why: there wasn't a single dish that we wouldn't fall in love with.
🏞 The Mystilli's atmosphere is open, yet intimate due to the dimmed, warm lights. The walls are decorated with artificial leaves. The chairs and tables are sturdy and comfortable. The menu is well structured, not crowded, and easily readable for locals and tourists alike. Every utensil is branded and even the cutlery is sharp and distinct from other restaurants. The level of loving details is astonishing!
🚾 I didn't use the restrooms myself but according to my partner, they are very nice.
🍴 The food is nothing but incredible. Opposed to many other restaurants in the place, the portions are not oversized but perfectly rationed - even for a hungry, food-loving man like me. Every dish came timely and was served to us at the same time.
🧀 I have never eaten a better Moussaka - tasty, light and fluffy, not heavy and soaked in fat.
🥩 Fresh, lean, well-grilled, juicy meat. Well seasoned.
🍆🍄 I also loved our starters: gratinated eggplant and fried cheese-mushroom balls.
🥘 Only the risotto - that the delicious beef cheeks was served upon - could have needed a little more salt and seasoning, while I personally missed some vegetables along my otherwise fantastic Greek pork pan.
🍰 Mind-blowing dessert! Being a white and dark version of the German "Kalter Hund" (cold dog), I fell in love with it so much that I didn't hesitate to accept Dimitris' offer to bring another round. Fresh and cold, sweet and fruity, chocolatey with a nice bite...simply one of the best desserts I have ever eaten. So well rounded.
💶 The prices were even cheaper than other restaurants, while the food quality was so much better. We paid about 25€ per person for a Retsina wine, beverages, starters, main dishes, and a dessert! In Germany, we would have probably paid 60-80% more for a restaurant of a similar quality. We gladly gave a lot of tip for the excellent service.
🌟 You see: we are amazed by the Mystilli. If you're close, forget about all other restaurants....
Read moreWe tried this place for dinner due to the great reviews on Google but it fell short of the almost 5 star average. We ordered bread, eggplant spread, grilled mushrooms, two items from the pan fried menu- shrimp saganaki and the sausage with caramelized onions. The star was the grilled mushrooms- this I would recommend. The pan fried menu items were too salty, especially the sausage dish. We also felt for 1.5€ each for bread, to serve one small little dinner roll per person felt cheap as every other restaurant we’ve been to in Greece served a larger portion for 1-1.5€ pp. It was disappointing because there was far too much eggplant spread to enjoy on 2 little dinner rolls. We did appreciate how kind the service was, everyone had a smile and were very wonderful people. Overall I don’t think we’d come back, but maybe it was fluke considering many people seem to...
Read moreWe were quite unhappy with the restaurant. We ordered pasta for our 1 year old. Unfortunately, there was white wine in the pasta with pork - that this is not mentioned in the menu. The lamb chops were sliced extremely thin. The whole menu equals one lamb chop of other restaurants. The Moussaka was completely tasteless. I think it is the worst Moussaka that I ever had- and as a Greek I had quite a few of them. I didn’t eat anything- however, we had to pay it. What was quite nice, was that the waiter offered us plain pasta for our Baby since he wasn’t able to eat the other dish (pasta with white wine). However, that was ready when we actually had to leave. It was a sweet offer- however, babies cannot wait 15/20 minutes while the adults eat 🤷🏻♀️ maybe just a bad day.. still not a recommendation...
