This Restaurant is located in Mochlos, Crete. It is the absolute best of 7 or 8 Restaurants in this tiny village. My wife and I ate there on 7 different occasions. Located just 2 or 3 meters from where the waves crash onto the rocks the view is an outstandingly beautiful visage of rocks, blue sea and soaring cliffs. This is a family busines, selling high quality food since 1902. The staff are attentive without being obtrusive. The ambience is friendly and relaxed. The menu is all things fish, though not exclusively. The starters we ate included, small fried fishes, similar to Whitbait, absolutely delicious, and my favourite, oven roasted Feta with vegetables, creamy and salty, Brucheta, their own version of the Italian classic, with fresh Anchovies. The mains were all different Fishes. Sword Fish Red Snapper, Sea Bass, Sea Bream, Grouper, and Prawns, the size of small Lamb Shanks. We ate all the fish with either Greek salad or roasted vegetables and fried potato. All the fish was served open in one piece with the bones removed. We drank mainly Rose wine, which was priced between €16 and €28 a bottle. The food is the very best we have ever eaten in a resteraunt. The lowest bill for dinner was €40 the highest €65 for 2 people. Should you ever find yourself within a 100 Kilometers of this Restaurant you should definitely eat there and enjoy an experience you will...

Sweet owners, but not so sure about the way we experienced our lunch here. We enjoyed and at the same time I asked if I could see the fresh fish. There was a drawer with dorade and a drawer with dorade in packages from Lidl. We were fine with it and choose one of the fishes. Did not point out a specific one. Had the dorade amongst other dishes and when the invoice came it appeared to be 30 euro. I paid explained it was a lot and was told it was a huge one. After going to Greece multiple times per year, I have lived here for many years and the last thing I want to do is bringing up trouble. However up to our opinion we were eating an average size of fish and therefore I returned to the shop to double check if it was correct and referred to other times we went to eat fish and would pay between 12 and 15 euro. The owner and his wife explained if was a real big fish. I left it and decided to just point it out to others to be checking out what you order and what will be the price. We had a dish of kalamari and had rings from the freezer. We decided to keep the memory of Mochlos as a sweet one but to share...

We were 6 adults and 4 kids and we arrived at 19:00. The personnel told us that all tables were reserved, however a 9-person table was not reserved but the responsible person told us that he forgot to reserve that one and that we cannot take that table. Also, another 10-person table was empty because some other customers just left. However, the responsible person told us that these people were still there and they were not there for the moment. IMHO, a ridiculous excuse!! We asked what time is the reservation of the tables because we wanted to stay only for a couple of hours. They told us that the reservations were at that time ~19:20.

Then, we took a table in the restaurant that is next to this place. We stayed until 21:00 in the next door restaurant and I was constantly checking if the tables of kochilia will be taken. However, many tables were still empty. We were really disappointed because we came from heraklion to have dinner in this place, however their behavior and service was really...

It's my favourite fish tavern in Greece hands down. The chef is a young and very skilled who displays an exemplary knowledge of culinary arts. Someone who polished his skills at Michelin restaurants and now serves original menus using locally sourced ingredients. Recommendations Crab Tarts sea bass carpaccio tuna carpaccio Shrimp Pasta Tarama Calamari with Pistachio Black Fava with squid ink and Octopus And the bread basket I can't begin to describe how grat it was. I came all the way back from Athens to eat here. Crab tart : (bottom -> up) A thin crispy tart at the bottom, avocado cream, Fresh avocado with lime juice , fresh blue crab meat, in-house sauce garnished with chives on top. TARAMA: Nice Foamy and light garnished with yellow tobiko (roe), and chives. And the list goes on. If you're in Crete, it's worth making a trip to this place for food if you enjoy seafood. No other fancier restaurant on the island can serve you this quality.

Located in Mochlos, Tá Kochília offers a stunning view of the bay and a small beach nearby. The seating is right by the water, creating a pleasant and enjoyable atmosphere. The sound of the waves and the scenic view make for a relaxing dining experience. However, there are several drawbacks to note. The open seating means that on hot days, the lack of air conditioning can be uncomfortable. Additionally, the presence of numerous cats wandering around can be bothersome, likely due to the seafood being served. As for the food, it was average at best. The Greek salad, in particular, was disappointing with warm tomatoes that seemed to have been left out in the sun, which ruined the dish. The rest of the food was just okay, without any standout dishes.Overall, while Tá Kochília Taverna provides a beautiful setting and a relaxing atmosphere, the food quality and comfort during hot days could be improved.

Overall: Food: Cretan/Greek Another great find this time in the village of Mochlos in eastern Crete. Mochlos can trace its roots back 9000 years (at the time of writing) and has a couple of gems. Advised to go to Bogazi but it turned out being closed on Tuesdays so went next door and it did not disappoint. Delicious fresh food served on a terrace overlooking the bay. What a way to spend an early September Tuesday! This was another great value lunch which only serves to remind us just how ripped off we are in the US and UK when it comes to dining out. What I liked: • Homemade chips fried in olive oil • Grilled sardines • Seasonal salad • The ability to choose your own fresh fish • Good price point • Naturally sweet watermelon and grapes What I didn’t like: • Slow service (despite being friendly) Do I recommend going? YES Will I go again? YES Was it good value? YES Price Point: $$
