The place to go for a lovely dinner with a spectacular view and sunset
I ate there on one night and I wished I had discovered this place earlier in my holiday.
This Taverna is a family run business with everyone extremely friendly and wanting to make sure you enjoy your stay there. The setting is fantastic to say the least, you can enjoy a fabulous sunset while dining (I’ll come to the food in a moment) literally by the sea and enjoying a fabulous view also of the village Mochlos Sitia which is totally worth going to. You will feel like in a movie!
The food: you can pick exactly which fish you want to eat from the fresh fish that they have received that day, this has to be the best part! It is cooked very simply, grilled and quite frankly is delicious. Addition to this great experience is that they asked me if I wanted them to “clean” it for me so take out all the fish bones. Let me tell you just once more how much I enjoyed that fish…delicious!
I had the Saganaki (fried cheese) as starter which was fantastic also because I knew what I wanted but could not remember the name and the wife of the owner was very good at identifying what it was that I was after …. And with the fish a lovely greek salad.
I felt totally at ease in this restaurant, the staff was fantastic and so was the food!! I could not recommend it to you enough!! It is well worth getting out of your way (and out of the main way) for. Thanks for such a...
Read moreWe took a trip here from Elounda just to sample the food and weren't disappointed. Fabulous hospitality and really fresh & tasty food. We had tsatziki to start, which was full of flavour. Then we had sea bream and red snapper; both chosen from the ice box and cooked to perfection. Great chips and a super fresh Greek salad completed the main. The meatballs in tomato sauce were a hit with our little one. We then had an amazing piece of warm apple cake with some greek yoghurt and a fruit compote to finish the meal perfectly. What a great place and really friendly staff.
Oh & don't try to send your plate back with any fish left on the bones. The staff will take great pleasure in showing you where you can find some more. (All done in good spirit!) It took me two attempts :)
Thank you everyone at...
Read moreThe three of us ate here on a Monday night in July and the restaurant filled up before we left. It's got prime position at the end of the small peninsula and has a boat moored outside (it provides passage to guest during the day to Mochlos Island), so it is very aesthetically pleasing and the most popular in the line of restaurants along the foreshore. It's also the only restaurant we encountered in our three week holiday that had a live band. My Australian Greek wife didn't actually like the music, and describes it as an older style no longer popular, but as a non-Greek, I found the music just fine and appreciated it. But we agreed that the food, service and atmosphere were tops, so 5...
