From the moment we sat down at The Rocks, we knew we had found something special. What started as a quick stop for a coffee turned into a daily ritual during our stay in Mochlos — and honestly, we didn’t want to leave.
The staff was amazing — warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. Not just polite, but truly interested in making you feel at home. They remembered our names, what we liked to drink, and always greeted us with a smile. It felt more like visiting friends than just going out.
And then there’s the view. Wow. Sitting right across from the little island of Agios Nikolaos, with its Minoan ruins quietly resting above the sea… it’s like time slows down. Watching the sunset behind ancient history, cocktail in hand, with soft music and the breeze from the sea — it’s a memory I’ll carry with me.
We tried almost everything: the ceviche, the tartare, the carpaccio — each dish was a small piece of art. So fresh, so balanced, so thoughtful. You can tell they really care about quality and presentation.
Breakfast was another highlight — fresh fruit, eggs, great coffee, beautiful setting. The perfect start to the day, every day.
Mochlos is a quiet, magical place, and The Rocks feels like its beating heart. If you ever come here, do yourself a favor and spend time at this bar. Not just for the food and drinks — but for the people, the atmosphere, and that feeling of peace you only get when everything is just… right.

Read moreDid not eat here but had sunset drinks. We visited once and enjoyed it so much we went back! The location is just perfect to watch the sunset. As good as bar we have ever been too for service, drinks and location. We contacted via Facebook and they reserved us a table. Communication brilliant throughout. Mochlos is an amazing, off the beaten track, Cretan village and a must see. While there make sure you visit The Rocks for sunset, it does not get...
Read moreRocks has moved to the northern end of Mochlos where Ta Kochilia used to occupy (still going strong to south east). We were initially disappointed to find our favourite spot transformed but we decided to have a cocktail here. It remains an amazing location with a view of the island. We enjoyed our drinks and returned the next morning for a fortifying juice. It does feel a little like gentrification but it is...
