Taverna Meraki — Restaurant in Municipality of Southern Corfu

ENGLISH Taverna Meraki in Mesoggi is worth every culinary trip. This is a traditional family business without much frills - the father goes out to sea early every day to fish and the freshly caught fish, prawns and mussels load onto the guests' plates without much diversions from 11:00 AM until midnight.

As soon as the taverna opens, the father serves the dishes prepared by mother and son to the good nine tables in the covered area - only about 20 metres from the beach and the water. The son is a true grill master and so, in addition to seafood, there is of course also chicken or pork souvlaki and much more that Corfiot cuisine has to offer in exceptional quality.

The service is friendly, quick and always a bit mischievous - which added to the feel-good factor for us. The prices are accurate and fully justified for the quality on offer. A crystal-clear recommendation for Taverna Meraki - see to book in advance, enjoy!

DEUTSCH Die Taverna Meraki in Mesoggi ist jede kulinarische Reise wert. Es handelt sich hier um einen traditionellen Familienbetrieb ohne viel Schnickschnack – der Vater fährt täglich früh zum Fischen hinaus aufs Meer und der fangfrische Fisch, die Garnelen und Muscheln laden ohne große Umwege ab 11:00 Uhr vormittags bis Mitternacht auf den Tellern der Gäste.

Sobald die Taverne öffnet serviert der Vater die von Mutter und Sohn zubereiteten Speisen den gut neun Tische im überdachten Bereich – nur rund 20 Meter von Strand und Wasser entfernt. Der Sohn ist ein wahrer Grillmeister und so gibt es hier natürlich über Seafood hinaus auch Souvlaki vom Huhn oder Schwein und vieles mehr was die korfiotische Küche zu bieten hat in außerordentlicher Qualität.

Der Service ist freundlich, schnell und stets etwas verschmitzt – was einen zusätzlichen Wohlfühlfaktor für uns ausgemacht hat. Die Preise sind akkurat und bei der gebotenen Qualität vollkommen gerechtfertigt. Eine glasklare Empfehlung für die Taverna Meraki – seht zu vorab zu reservieren, viel Spaß beim Genießen!

Went there because of good ratings. Place rigt in front of the sea so nice. Before the meal, I got bread and oil on the table but had no plate to eat it on. Ate lamb chops at this place. Unfortunately, I wouldn't say it was grilled and they were supposed to be. There were no signs of grill on the meat. Part of the meat was hard and gummy. Salad on a side was made only of lettuce and onion. Fries, although home cut and fresh, were undercooked. After finishing my meal, nobody visited my table for almost 10 minutes, so I just went to pay and left. Maybe some bad day at the office, and I was just unlucky but will not...

Tavern located on a beach, great view and tasty food. I was served the best grilled octopus I have ever had. Owner is very nice and friendly. The restaurant itself in nicely decorated and neat. A nice addition to the experience is owners' cat which is really friendly. The only thing I didn't like, at the start of the dinner we were served bread to dip in olive oil which I thought was a complementary starter but in reality it costed 2€. It is not much by any means, but it would be nice to have any information that it's not free, it's just a...
