Village Taverna Marilena - Messonghi — Restaurant in Municipality of Southern Corfu

There was a long wait for food which we were made aware of (40 minutes). The food when it arrived was ok.

The staff didn’t seem overly happy to have us - a bit abrupt and we noted that all others were being offered a free shot at the end of the meal, and staff were quite jovial with other guests. We had to go up and ask for the bill, no free shots for us and very little interaction.

We were about 10 years+ younger than most couples, maybe as we weren’t drinking alcohol or spending a lot they weren’t overly interested in us. May not be related at all, just felt a bit off given we were paying guests and they seemed to be rather...

Nothing special about the food. Advantages: sufficient portion, main course is served with fries 🍟 + a small salad 🥗, so you don’t need to order that separately. Staff is polite and relatively fast. Prices are ok. Disadvantages: we were notified that couldn’t pay by card only after a asking for a bill. Apparently, the terminal was broken. You get only a fries to choose for a side dish, baked potatoes (which is a healthier option) weren’t offered. The location on Google maps is off point. No sauce is served with dishes. And those were quite dry.

I was here almost 10 years ago and the food was ok. Went back again on this holiday to give it one for go. The worst food I've eaten on the whole holiday. I've been in Corfu four times and have to say the food is bad. The staff are very friendly but the food. We had pizza: it was dough in the middle and burned on the outside, moussaka was burned and tasteless, corfu dish the meat was fatty. The chips was tasteless and white in color.
