Marida — Restaurant in Municipality of Spata - Artemida

We are so grateful to have found this hidden gem of a restaurant on-the-beach with incredible food & even better people! On the final leg of a long journey in Greece, we chose to spend our last 2 nights outside of the center in a more relaxed environment on the beach of Artemida, and were recommended this restaurant by a local. Our servers Maria, Jon & hostess were warm, generous & soooo lovely! They took genuine joy in sharing their favorite dishes &drinks with us - and they were all amazing!! Fried feta w/ sesame seeds & honey was one of the best things I’ve ever had…Even the bread it was served with was pure fluffy goodness! The zucchini balls w/ feta were perfectly done & not heavy at all. The grilled mixed seafood plate was spectacular & so fresh; visually stunning in its rustic simplicity. We were blown away with the food, the service, and the waves lapping a few feet away…a truly delightful & memorable evening! Our servers treated us to an after-dinner ouzo & light yogurt dessert that was a perfect nightcap…in addition to a special toast and conversation with the owner - who grew up in this restaurant and whose heart is infused throughout! If you find yourself needing to restore while in/around Athens - I highly recommend staying and dining here! Can’t wait...

Food was actually pretty good, but that wasnt enough to pull the star rating from one. Wait staff on the other hand was terrible. Dinner service took over 2.5 hours and all we ordered was a main and wine. My food came out about 25 min before my wifes. No apology or explanation from the waitor.

From when the food came out, we sat for an hour without any staff coming by. To pay my wife went across the street and found the 2 waitors both smoking inside the kitchen. She then found they had added bread to our bill... We didnt even get bread to the table (but plates for bread did arrive so thats why she was told we got charged for bread). They did remove the charge for the bread, but still... Others around us also seemed to be having a very slow service and there seemed to be lots of questions especially around bills.

If the wait staff actually paid a bit of attention, this could be a nice place to eat but my experience tonight was...

I only gave one star because in a restaurant it's not just the food that matters, the service is also very important. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. We waited a good 15 minutes just to get the menu and another 20 minutes to place our order. Several items on the menu were unavailable, but nobody informed us beforehand. This forced us to quickly make alternative choices in a rush when ordering.

The mussels we ordered arrived without napkins, and at the same time, they brought other dishes. As a result, we had to eat other things on plates already dirty from the seafood. Wej, which was far from great. We chose this place based on positive reviews, but we were deeply...
