MOURAYO — Restaurant in Municipality of Spetses

It has been more than 30 years that has visited the place for first time. One of my favorite places in Spetses Island. I was very dissapointed to be treated very unprofessionally and in an insulting way when we have made a reservation for 14th of August dinner with my family. We arrived on time only to discover that our reservation has been changed by an hour and the table has been given to others. In my question why they changed the time the person in charge instead of making an excuse he tried in a very rude way to convince me that we had discussed it in the phone earlier!!! He was making fun of me in my face! Probably he was feeling very powerfull at this time. He finally offered me two alternatives, either a table at the end of the restaurant or to cancel my reservation!!. Very conveniently for them off course we have cancelled since it was obvious that we were not welcome in the place for a reason I can not understand. It is a pitty that a historic place is represented in such an unprofessionally way. Money is not everything. We did not ask to est for free after all. We only asked to be treated with respect. Owners must understand that they must treat all customers with respect otherwise there is no point at all. The reputation of the place will be destroyed if not already dine so. Such a waste! 1 additional Star only because i have spend numerous good times during earlier years in the place when it was only a music bar and the people were meeting in a welcoming environment....

Τα δόντια τα ‘δωσε ο Θεός να συγκρατούν τη γλώσσα. Με τις φίλες μου επισκεφθήκαμε το συγκεκριμένο μαγαζί το προηγούμενο Σάββατο, κατόπιν έρευνας μας στο tripadvisor και στο Google. Προς λύπηση μας από την πρώτη στιγμή η συμπεριφορά του προσωπικού και η εικόνα του μαγαζιού δεν είχε καμία σχέση με την εικόνα που μας δημιούργησαν οι θετικές κριτικές που διαβάσαμε. Με λίγα λόγια: Είχαμε κάνει κράτηση για τις 19:15, φτάσαμε μίση ώρα νωρίτερα στο μαγαζί, δηλαδή στις 18:45 και ζητήσαμε να κάτσουμε είτε στο μπαρ είτε στο τραπέζι μας χωρίς να παραγγείλουμε κάποιο πιάτο-απλά για να πιούμε ένα κρασί, μία μπύρα ακόμα και έναν χυμό. Η απάντηση του υπεύθυνου-ιδιοκτήτη (μάλλον), που μας υποδέχτηκε ήταν ότι "δεν μπορούμε να σας εξυπηρετήσουμε δεν έχει ανοίξει ακόμα το μαγαζί, δεν είχε ολοκληρωθεί το στρώσιμο των τραπεζιών"- όμως όλα τα τραπέζια ήταν στρωμένα και έτοιμα. Ζητήσαμε απλά να κάτσουμε στο μπαρ ή κάπου τέλος πάντων, καθώς είχε απερίγραπτη ζέστη και δεν αντέχαμε να περιμένουμε στον ήλιο. Ο υπεύθυνος και ένας σερβιτόρος συνέχισαν να μας λένε ότι είναι αδύνατο να κάτσουμε γενικώς στο μαγαζί πριν τις 19:00 (ενώ ήταν 18:45), εν πάσει περιπτώσει κατόπιν πολλών προτροπών μας να κάτσουμε κάπου έστω για ένα νερό μας άφησαν να πάμε στο τραπέζι μας. Ο υπεύθυνος ιδιοκτήτης μας χωρίς λόγο και ενώ μας οδηγούσε προς το τραπέζι που είχαμε κάνει κράτηση και χωρίς βέβαια να συνεχίσει τη σκέψη του είπε γενικώς "Καθίστε εδώ τώρα και θα αλλάξετε μετά γιατί έχω κρατήσεις". Πιθανόν να εννοούσε την δική μας κράτηση στις 19:15. Κορυφώθηκε η κράτηση μας όταν Ο ΙΔΙΟΣ Ο ΥΠΕΥΘΥΝΟΣ ΙΔΙΟΚΤΗΤΗΣ ΑΠΗΥΘΥΝΕ ΤΟΝ ΛΟΓΟ ΣΕ ΜΙΑ ΑΠΟ ΤΙΣ ΦΙΛΕΣ ΜΟΥ-Η ΟΠΟΙΑ ΦΟΡΟΥΣΕ ΜΙΑ ΠΑΝΤΕΛΟΝΑ ΚΑΙ ΤΟ ΜΑΓΙΟ ΤΗΣ ΑΠΟ ΠΑΝΩ (σε κάθε περίπτωση τι σημασία έχει;)- ΚΑΙ ΤΗΣ ΕΙΠΕ ΤΟ ΕΞΗΣ "ΡΙΞΕ ΚΑΤΙ ΠΑΝΩ ΣΟΥ-ΒΑΛΕ ΜΙΑ ΜΠΛΟΥΖΑ ΓΙΑΤΙ ΘΑ ΕΡΘΕΙ ΚΟΣΜΟΣ ΚΑΙ ΕΣΥ ΕΙΣΑΙ ΕΕΕ ΕΤΣΙ...ΠΩΣ ΘΑ ΣΕ ΔΟΥΝ". Προφανώς και του απαντήσαμε και ξεκίνησε μία διαφωνία μεταξύ μας, το απίστευτο ΗΤΑΝ ΟΤΙ ΣΑΝ ΔΙΚΑΙΟΛΟΓΙΑ ΜΑΣ ΕΙΠΕ ΟΤΙ "ΕΝΑΣ ΠΕΛΑΤΗΣ ΖΗΤΗΣΕ ΜΙΑ ΦΟΡΑ ΝΑ ΒΑΛΕΙ ΜΙΑ ΚΟΠΕΛΑ ΚΑΤΙ ΠΑΝΩ ΤΗΣ". ΕΝ ΤΩ ΜΕΤΑΞΥ ΑΠΕΝΑΝΤΙ ΜΑΣ ΗΤΑΝ ΑΓΚΥΡΟΒΟΛΗΜΕΝΑ ΣΚΑΦΗ ΣΤΑ ΟΠΟΙΑ ΚΥΚΛΟΦΟΡΟΥΣΑΝ ΟΛΟΙ ΑΝΤΡΕΣ-ΚΟΠΕΛΕΣ ΜΕ ΜΑΓΙΟ ΣΥΝΕΠΩΣ ΑΠΟ ΤΟ ΜΑΓΑΖΙ ΤΟΥΣ ΕΒΛΕΠΕΣ ΣΕ ΑΠΟΣΤΑΣΗ ΤΕΣΣΑΡΩΝ ΤΟ ΠΟΛΥ ΜΕΤΡΩΝ. Μετά από την έντονη αντιπαράθεση μας καθίσαμε εν τέλει-κακώς για εμάς- για φαγητόμ ο μόνος λόγος που καθίσαμε ήταν ότι λόγω ημέρας πιθανό να μην βρίσκαμε χωρίς κράτηση να φάμε. Ο "κύριος" καθ' όλη την παραμονή μας στο μαγαζί αντί να μας ζητήσει μία συγγνώμη για την αδιακρισία του, ερχόταν και απευθυνόταν στην φίλη μας λέγοντας της άσχετα πράγματα.. Το αποκορύφωμα όμως ήταν ότι μας είπε ΟΤΙ ΤΗΝ ΠΑΡΤΗΡΗΣΗ ΓΙΑ ΤΗΝ ΗΜΙΓΥΜΝΗ ΚΟΠΕΛΑ ΤΗΝ ΕΚΑΝΕ ΕΝΑΣ ΔΙΚΗΓΟΡΟΣ-ΘΕΩΡΩΝΤΑΣ ΟΤΙ ΩΣ ΔΙΚΗΓΟΡΟΣ ΕΧΕΙ ΕΝΑ ΚΥΡΟΣ ΕΚ ΤΟΥ ΤΙΤΛΟΥ ΤΟΥ ΚΑΙ ΜΟΝΟ-ΧΩΡΙΣ Ο ΚΥΡΙΟΣ ΝΑ ΓΝΩΡΙΖΕΙ ΟΤΙ ΕΙΜΑΣΤΕ ΚΑΙ ΕΜΕΙΣ ΠΕΝΤΕ ΚΟΡΙΤΣΙΑ ΔΙΚΗΓΟΡΟΙ!. Δεν του το αναφέραμε σαφώς. Το δεύτερο αποκορύφωμα ήταν ότι μισή ώρα μετά από εμάς έφτασε ένα ζευγάρι-το οποίο είχε κατέβει από ένα κότερο-και η κοπέλα φορούσε επίσης μαγιό. Στην συγκεκριμένη κοπέλα όμως δεν έκανε παρατήρηση!!!!!!! Θεωρώ απαράδκτο εν έτει 2022 να γίνονται τέτοια σχόλια. Το μαγαζί πραγματικά είναι δίπλα στην θάλασσα σε νησί τι περίμενει κανείς να βάλει για να πάει. Και σε κάθε περίπτωση αν θέλεις το μαγαζί σου να έχει dress code μπορείς να το αναφέρεις στην περιγραφή. Αναφορικά με το φαγητο: τίποτα το ουαου, μετριότατο- Τα σπαγγέτι με σολωμό δεν με ενθουσίασαν καθόλου, καθώς ο σολωμός ήταν ελάχιστος ενώ επικρατούσε η κρέμα γάλακτος στο πιάτο. Έκανε 19 ευρώ και ακόμα απορώ γιατί κόστιζε τόσο.

A very solid restaurant in the old port — with excellent food and a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. Mourayo stands out from most nearby places, both in terms of food quality and service.

Among the dishes we ordered, the eggplant rolls were especially memorable — thin, tender, and filled with a rich mix of tomato and cheese. The monkfish in a sauce of white wine, tomatoes, and parsley was perfectly cooked: bold in flavor, but well-balanced. The grilled octopus with mushrooms turned out to be an interesting and surprisingly successful combination. The sea bass was fresh and well grilled, though it could have used a bit more sauce.

Service was calm, attentive, and professional. The staff know the menu well and can suggest a good wine pairing. It’s also worth noting that the owner personally keeps an eye on the dining room, which speaks to the level of care here.

Prices are above average, but this is one of those places where they’re fully justified. At Mourayo, you know what you’re paying for — and it delivers.
