Dinner at Tarsanas (137.30 € for two — including 6.00 € for two slices of bread, see receipt below) No, we didn’t order lobster in champagne or ask for a live sirtaki performance at the table.
General impression:
The dishes? Just carelessly thrown onto the plate — a “here, eat this” kind of attitude. This place has no respect for flavor, presentation, or the guest. Service? Never heard of it. It’s definitely not worth the price. And a word of advice — don’t rush to order everything at once!
We sent two dishes back right away — the waiter didn’t even ask why, yet still added them to the bill… and then had the nerve to ask for a tip at the end.
Dish-by-dish breakdown:
• Bread – 6.00 € No, it’s not truffle-oiled baguette. Just sad canteen bread, two slices.
• Fish carpaccio – 21.00 € Tiny, paper-thin slices spread far apart to make the plate look less empty. Maybe 40 grams at best.
• Tarsanas salad – 21.00 € That’s the price of a hot main in Athens — and here it gets you a pile of greens and clumps of manouri cheese. No aesthetics, no balance. I didn’t even find any arugula in there.
• Tabbouleh – 10.80 € Don’t expect anything Lebanese. This was the Greek version: too much bulgur, too little greenery, zero freshness, no mint, and no soul.
• Seafood with pasta – 30.00 € 4 shrimp, 5 mussels, 3 crayfish backs, and some questionable noodles. It looked like someone had already eaten it. Served in a ceramic pot with a chipped handle (!). Field canteen energy — post-Soviet sanatorium level.
• Linguine with shrimp – 27.50 € Five shrimp, tasteless sauce, and overcooked pasta. Not a dish, a disappointment.
• Wine – 2 glasses at 9.00 € each 18 euros for unnamed, unlabelled wine. They didn’t even show the bottle — hard to say what we were paying for.
• The only enjoyable part was the baklava and the ice cream — which clearly came from somewhere else.
Verdict:
The only thing that looked good was the sea. Prices like a fine restaurant, food like a canteen. Objectively: zero stars. I’ll be recommending all my friends to avoid this...
Read moreI’ll start from the positives so that I don’t come across as biased. Good spot next to the water. Service: rude and impolite, Food: we ordered a simple pasta among other things and it took them more than 45’ to bring over following multiple reminders and when the pasta came over everyone else had finished eating long time ago and it had a piece of hair in it. We also ordered a second bottle of wine the was never delivered to us despite multiple reminders. I went to speak to a person in charge and I had the most interesting conversation. I said ‘Are you interested in real time feedback for your restaurant” and the response was “I am only interested in going home tonight” and then I continued “I thought so…that’s alright I will provide you with my feedback online” and then the lady jumped from her chair and said “Oh I am sorry I didn’t understand what you said, I thought you were a salesman trying to sell me a software for my computer!!!!!” and my response was: “do I really look like a salesman and were you really expecting a salesman selling you software at 00:00 in the night???!!!” 😂😂😂😂😂
Funny but pathetic at the same time.
The moral of the story: never go to so called up market restaurants as in most cases you will not get value for your money and you won’t be treated respectfully. Find a traditional and simple restaurant and you will be amazed with...
Read moreService was appalling, worst we've had in Greece so far. We came here on recommendation of a local friend of ours, but despite the food being lovely, the service wasn't to any standards. Only 1 waiter, out of the 5 we had, was friendly. The food is very much overpriced for what it is, and they charge you for -everything-. First, we had to try & call them to ask for the menu ourselves. Then, they put bread &water on the table (which is complementary literally everywhere else) and charged €6&€4 respectively, without us even having asked for these. No watermelon for dessert, they didn't ever ask if we wanted any dessert even though we saw other people being served the watermelon. Literally the only way to know they even did dessert. They wait for you to move & clear plates they have put down so they can put down the next dishes. Why should I do your job for you? They had small holes in the tablecloth, is it really that much of an issue to fix or replace? At the prices that they charge for these small dishes, you could at least have some attention to detail or the service! Had to ask 5 times for the bill, and then when we tried to pay and finally got someone over, they told us we had to pay indoors. No, we didn't leave a tip, at this point we were too...
