We have traveled to Spetses nearly a dozen times over the last 5 years and absolutely love the island, the food and the people -- which is why we always make a point to return when we travel.
Liotrivi/The Olive Press on the other was the worst experience with food and service that we have ever experienced on the island and in Greece in general. Their bad attitude started from the moment we arrived and continued until the moment we left.
We ordered like 6 different mezze as it was later in the evening and were not hungry for a full meal (perhaps this is why they were not attentive to us as we were not ordering entrees?) as well as two bottles of wine. When the waiter found out that we were not going to be ordering entrees that is when his charm turned off and he pretty much ignored us the rest of the evening.
The mezze arrived and we asked the food runner for an additional bottle of wine and water, which never arrived. We also asked the server to the table next to ours if we could order more wine, and again, it never came. This was quite shocking to us as the tables around us were getting more bottles of wine, water and cocktails while we were left to eat without any beverages. The mezze were average tasting at best and lacked flavor.
By this point in the meal we could tell that the restaurant had shunned us and we just wanted to pay and leave to go to another cafe nearby to enjoy wine and the beautiful evening.
We had to ask 4 times and wait nearly a half hour for the bill, it never arrived, finally a member of our party got-up and went to the bar to pay where they said “we were going to come to you soon.” We ignored their blatant disrespect, paid and left.
When we arrived back to our hotel, we spoke to the front desk host and he informed us that he was not surprised and that it is common for the servers at Liotrivii/Olive Press to often treat foreigners rudely; especially when they see the meal total is going to be under 200euros.
This didn't ruin the trip as we spent 4 additional nights on the island and had amazing meals at every other restaurant with amazing hospitality. Just be advised and...
Read moreAfter Having dinner in this place for many many nights I have a complete view for its services. The restaurant couldn't be more perfect! Delicious dishes by the excellent chef and his assistants. Really good service, polite staff, Mr.Leokratis has an impeccable way to approach the customers, the young beautiful girls, are efficient and intelligent as much as polite! Mr. Peter and the rest of the staff always helpful and careful, discreet and tactful. Add to all the above, the Unbelievably magical atmosphere which is a combination of minimalistic but cozy decoration with the natural beauty of its position inside the small old harbour of Spetses Island and you will have an indescribable picture offered by the green and blue lights of the yachts in front of the restaurant long outside space, the "magic pier"! The prices absolutely reasonable for its category taking into consideration that unlike other gourmet, poshy restaurants of this type, it's portions in the dishes served are big. Last but not least, the place has other four different areas to dinner (inside and out) and hosts serious artists and Artwork of famous painters, writers, musicians since one of its areas operates perfectly as a gallery! During the past month many admired it and till the 20th August if you happen to visit Liotrivi you may have the chance to witness some high quality Art by the famous painter Eva Bratopoulou, while waiting to be served mouthwatering recipes! Liotrivi Restaurant is a Must see, Must...
Read moreTruly an awful experience. Firstly, nobody greeted us when we arrived. We didn’t pay much attention to that behavior because we had read good reviews for the food. Not only the food was really plain and truly overpriced, but some dishes, like the signature dish, were not tasty at all (except for Blue crab tartar). I was really disappointed with the service as well. When they asked me if I like the specific dish (the panzzarotti aragon, which I didn’t finish because it was really bad), I said politely that it wasn’t to my taste, and their answer was almost hostile and snobbish.
When we were about to leave, again, nobody told us goodnight.
We ordered five dishes and paid 130€ with tip.
I do not recommend visiting this restaurant. It’s such a pity that it is located in a really good place, when another restaurant could be in its place serving quality dishes with...
