Unexpectedly unpleasant service and mediocre food – a disappointment despite good reviews

We visited this restaurant after reading several positive reviews, but unfortunately, our experience was quite the opposite of what we had expected. From the very beginning, the service was confusing and uncomfortable. Upon entering, we were approached simultaneously by three different staff members, creating a chaotic and stressful situation. One of them—a woman who came up behind us—took offense when we didn’t respond to her, despite the fact that we were already engaged in conversation with the other two waiters at that exact moment and hadn’t even realized she was addressing us.

The situation escalated when we were later accused of being rude—something that stemmed entirely from the disorganized and poor communication on their part, not from any intentional behavior on ours.

To make matters worse, we were met with a condescending attitude from the older waiter who took our order. When my friend, who speaks Greek, placed our order, the waiter deliberately pretended not to understand due to a minor mispronunciation of a single word—an unnecessary and disrespectful gesture that only added to our frustration.

The restaurant’s sound environment was also bizarre. The entire space was filled with loud, artificial bird sounds that disrupted conversation and made the experience even more uncomfortable.

Unfortunately, the food was nothing to write home about—neither flavorful nor memorable, but rather bland and mediocre. In summary, we cannot recommend this restaurant. We spent the day on the sun beds and then straight for an early dinner. The cost for the sun beds is at €10 minimum consumption. Food was ok, a bit on the upper side of prices for what you get. We liked the fava and the tzatziki. Fried calamari was deep frozen so you cannot go wrong with that. Octopus was bland and the small shrimp was too oily. Greek salad had its components counted for and was too expensive for its quantity. Service polite and efficient. We visited this great Taverna many times during our stay. The owners are very friendly, and work from early morning until late at night. You can use their sun loungers directly on the Beach, and they will serve you cold beer, & nibbles!! Bliss! I really enjoyed the dishes, especially the Stuffed Aubergine. My husband who had tasted lots of the local goat dishes on the island, found the goat to be superb, very lean and excellently cooked. He reported these goat dishes were the best...
