As we were walking around the port in Skopelos, a kind lady hailed us towards her restaurant. She was assertive, she told us about her restaurant, how it’s run by her and her grandmother who’s in the kitchen and adding there’s a live performance tonight.

We were hooked. We came to have dinner there. One of the waiter, probably a relative, summoned us to come and have a look at the cuisine. That’s when the disappointment started. All the dishes (quite many) were ready, stored in aluminium plates. The food display had the opposite effect on us, we expected to meet the grandmother’s cooking but she was not there.

All the food came except for my partner’s. Very startled by my plate: two pieces of goat and a small portion of pre-fried fries (mentioned in the menu) drenched in tomato sauce. Food did NOT look appealing at all. No salad on the side, no presentation at all, no effort. In terms of taste, it was good but nothing special like what the lady was selling us…

And my partner had to almost wait for us to be done to get his fried squids…. Would have been great to eat together.

Overall, we were very disappointed, we fell right into the tourist trap. The live performance was great though.

Don’t be fooled by the “grandmother” story, avoid this tourist trap because you’ll find much cheaper places to dine in Skopelos with better food, better service for a...

I have been coming to Greece for 40 years. My meals at Kyratso’s kitchen have been so delicious. We went last week with a group of 4. We ordered tsiporo with mezzo. We were delighted with each dish. There was fresh marinated fish with cauliflower, tiny shrimps sautéed with wild greens, octopus salad. We also ordered orzo with mussels, calamari and giant shrimp. Each dish had a completely different flavor and texture. We wanted more of everything. We were surprised at the end of our meal when maria, the cook and owner’s daughter, served us hot cream filled crispy crepes. We were satisfied and happy and talked about our super delicious meal for days. On another occasion, we dined on fresh grilled fish prepared to perfection! We wanted more vegetables which weren’t on the menu, Kyratso grilled eggplants and peppers for us which melted in our mouths. We dipped them in creamy thick cucumber tzatiki. If I lived in skopolos town, I am sure I would treat myself at least once a week and work my way through each item offered. I highly recommend this restaurant! Treat yourself to amazing dishes all prepared with love...

The traditional cheese pie was not very good even though it says at the entrance that they have the island's best cheese pie. The fisherman's plate on the other hand was good, especially the squid. Their souvlaki my brother had was ok but nothing special considering it's relatively high price of 8.5 €. The location of the restaurant is not very good, it's on a pier and the view is of the relatively unattractive marina. This is the owner's second restaurant, the more famous one is located at the Glysteri beach. The fish ia probably pretty good, but moderately expensive, the rest of the menu is not that great.

Absolutely the best experience on the island. The service was outstanding, they invited us to the kitchen. We tour and explore the daily specials. They explained to us every dish, we were super impressed. Then we explored the fresh fish that they offer, we were educated on each first and the way they can prepare it. We picked Scorpio fish. That fish they prepared to perfection, the taste was amazing - so silky and smooth. The cod fish soup was like nothing we tried beffore, absolutely delicious. The house white wine was one of the best we had in Greece. Overall everything we ordered was very delicious.

My friend was eating in this Taverna 11 years ago. Long before Jamie Oliver finds out this place. It is one of the family tavernas in the Skopelos city centre. There is an old woman who is in the main in the kitchen. Her kids and grandkids are helping her to run this place. We took grilled halloumi cheese, goat meat and Musaka. The best is the homemade tomato with olive oil. So tasty. I am not an expert for the fish option and it was easier to choose meat options. We didn't make any mistakes. Homemade food is always the best option. I recommend this place in the Skopelos city center.
