Cavo d' oro taverna — Restaurant in Thassos Municipality

I had to click on one star to post the review. They are not even worth that one! Sat down in their beach front tables. Waited patiently the single waitress to pickup the order for 10 minutes. We ordered 4 dishes of which 30 minutes later, only one fried dish , one salad we did not order and one beer came. After 45 minutes of total waiting frustration I had to walk in to the restaurant and cancel the rest of the order which It was not yet even prepared(2 shrimp pasta dishes and some sardines on grill) !! Prices: 16 euros for a wanna 'gourmet' fried calamari dish with a single slice of tomato and one 8th of lemon slice. 7 euro for a malvertised 'green sald' that should contain lettuce as base and 4 other kinds of vegies yet it had only lettuce and 4 baby tomatoes sliced in half! I thought we ordered cocktails and not food ! One of the worst experiences on the island in my 25+ years I visit it since I have roots there! Management: you need to up your game because post covid vacationists may be paying a higher price but they also have memory cells that actually work! You are damaging your own island's image! Otherwise do the island a favor and shut down! Thankfully the other restaurant we visited was kind enough to rebound our bad experiences thanks to excellent service and price ranges...

We ate the first night at the neighboring restaurant which according to reviews was the best in the area. Unfortunately it was a disaster regarding the food and service. The children received their food last even though we had asked to be served first, and the drinks arrived after we had almost finished eating. We ate at Cava doro the next night and I have to say it was perfect. Alex and Ana together with Alex's mother run this business which is pure Greek style opened 45 years ago. The food is extraordinarily good with fresh and local dishes. The three fish ordered last night were caught that day, not FARMED. That is why there is only the fish of the day option on the menu. I visited this taverna in the evening. We wanted to have dinner after the romantic walk in Skala Marion. We chose this taverna because its tables were in the open and there was a fresh wind coming from the sea. The taverna is small but very romantic. The service was fast and the staff was very kind, especially one young lady. The food arrived quickly and everything was so tasty. The fish soup was delicious.
