Taverna Gorgona — Restaurant in Thassos Municipality

Taverna Gorgona was our place of choice for most mornings and evenings during our stay in Thasos. We found here very friendly people that made us feel very welcome and gave us everythind we asked. For that alone I rate 5 stars. As a bonus, the food is very good, we never found portions to be small and always got the sweets on the house. We never tried pizza as othes wrote here, we tryed traditional food, especialy fish. Here we had the best octopus and lavraki, but the shrimps and calmari are not to be forgoten. The restaurant is greatly decorated (interior/exterior), mermaids made of marble everywhere, the waiter speaks fluently multiple languages, we even ordered in Romanian and that’s something in another country, the plates were excellent and tasty, great food made on place. Excellent, also the beach is great (free stay on beach fully and maybe if needed you can order something afterwards, water is still and beautiful) Cat friendly place (love them all😁), and also the Taverna itself serves as a dessert some of traditional Greek sweets. Food is like 20% more expensive than general, but you will not find the difference in the size of the portion or the quantity of it. The taste is less than average and the time they took to serve us was unacceptable. If you are a family with kids, don’t be fooled by the good reviews, otherwise be advised! If you don’t believe me, before you order, go to the toilet and on the way you will see how small, disorganized and disturbed is the kitchen! And everything around it is a mess!
