We went to visit the Makrinitsa city and after we parked our car we went for a walk to get to the center of this city. Along the way, we saw small souvenir shops, but the prices were very high so we didin't buy anything (a small magnet was 5€). When we got to the center, we sat on a bench under a big old tree and then i saw this tavern and the prices that were so good so we decided to sat at their table. The tables are outside tge tavern and inside was the kitchen and the toilet. A kind old man took our order and in 10-15 minutes it was ready. I ordered some spaghetti which were delicious, but they didin't have carbonnara or bolognese. The spaghetti had some meat bites with a brown sauce at the bottom of the plate and some cheese on top. My dad ordered an aubergine salad which is a salad with eggplant. It was very interesting with a taste of mustard and eggplant. The waiter (the old man i've mentioned earlier) couldn't bring bread because they had a problem with their oven but for us it was ok. He also bringed a big glass of water and 3 smaller glasses for free because you could get water from a nearby fountain also for no money. Except the fact, that the water was warm and we went on summer to visit this city anything else was very good. The waiter speaks english pretty good and he was very kind as well. The food was good and the prices were cheaper than the other...
Read moreIt was the worst dining experience of my stay in Greece. My Greek salad was made with the cheapest, tasteless tomatoes. The bread was tasteless, and the grilled chicken breast was hard to chew. Thankfully, I didn’t swallow the thread I found in it. The only good thing about dinner was the bottled beer — apparently because the person in the kitchen (I can’t even call them a cook or chef) didn't touch it. Avoid this place so you don't ruin your impression of the village. Don't be deceived by the great view of the square and the old plane tree. The food is as terrible as the...
Read moreThe food is the real star of the show. This is proper, homemade Greek cuisine — the kind you imagine a yiayia would make. The portions are generous, so come hungry! We sampled a variety of meze, and everything was fresh, flavourful, and clearly made with love.
But I have to give a special mention to the “Spetzofai”. This traditional dish of spicy sausage and peppers was nothing short of UNREAL. It was a masterpiece of rustic cooking—rich, deeply flavourful. It's a must-order and possibly the best I've ever...
