Aris journeys of flavors — Restaurant in Zagori Municipality

We went to Aris based on the recommendation of our hotel. It was a great recommendation. When we entered the restaurant there was a large table of locals (always a good sign). The waiter informed us that the kitchen was busy and we would need to wait for half an hour for food. Which wasn’t a problem for us. We were shown to our tables and offered the menus and ordered drinks which came almost immediately. We selected and ordered food (Grilled mushrooms, Caprisi salad, Oven baked goat, Metsovone cheese, Grilled fish and bread). The food started to arrive earlier than promised and it was all amazing! The standouts are hard to pick but the grilled mushrooms and goat would probably be the choices.

Awesome location and beautifully designed dining area based on the traditional stone buildings of the village. The menu is updated on the modern cuisine standards, something that contains it’s positives and negatives as the plates are very well presented but they seem to lose their traditional aura. Nevertheless the food is tasty, giving much emphasis on authentic recipes of Epirus and the staff is smiley and friendly. Tip: watch out for the tables near the beautifully decorated pots of flowers as they attract many ants who easily transport to your table. Awful and unpolite service. We ordered 2 appetizers, 1 salad and 2 main dishes. After 1 hour of waiting they only brought the drinks. In the meantime the table next to us got the salad and appetizer in 5 minutes. We asked when we were going to be served and the reply was that one of the main dishes would be further delayed (!!!). We paid for the drinks (that we did not even finish) and left. The worst was that we did not receive even one apology. The other table next to us found a plastic small thing in the sausage and their reply was that it was not their fault but the supplier’s.
