Black Pearl Pub — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

If you like being served once and then completely and blatantly ignored this is the place for you.

Me and wife decide to go in the bar for a few drinks as I found out about the Black Pearl before our stay in Kalamaki and loved that it was a pirate themed bar.

We walked in and go a seat instantly as the place was quiet, only about 4 tables in before us, and the waitress gave us the menu and took our order within the space of 5 mins and our drinks came to us no less than 5 mins after our order was taken. So far no complaints, everything is all good.

Then it came to when we finished our drinks. When both me and my wife finished our drinks I sat our glasses to the side of the table just as an Indication that we had finished our drinks. Context, our glasses weren’t see through so I could get if you can’t tell if someone has finished there drinks, hence why I put them to the side of the table away from us thinking that the waitress would see that we have finished our drinks and maybe come back to our table and and check in on us and see if we needed anymore.

Unfortunately this didn’t happen and for the next 30+ minutes, after we both finished our drinks, the waitress never came back to our table and see if everything was okay and we would like anymore drinks, which I did by the way the Captain Barbosa drink was really nice.

The waitress would walk half way up the bar floor just to have a scan and see what each table was like and just completely ignore us, I don’t know about anyone else but if you see a couple sitting and the haven’t touched their drinks for quite a bit, that probably is a good indication that they might have finished their drinks and are waiting for you to come back and get another order from you.

Now during this 30 minute period, two more couples did come into the bar and sit down, they got served and got their drink quite quickly as well, I don’t know they’ve suffered the same problem I felt we had and never to get served a drink ever again because we left before that could ever happen to them.

What was frustrating me is the waitress would continuously look in our direction and could see that neither me or my wife weren’t drinking and just never bothered to even come up to our table at all.

Eventually we decided that we would just get the bill and go because at this point we just accepted that we were never going to get served again. I had to go up to the bar and request the bill as if I waited for the waitress to do it I would have probably missed my flight back home in a few days.

I was really excited to go to this bar and check it out because I like pirate related stuff and all things related to pirates but unfortunately I was left disappointed with the service overall.

I know that the reviews on here and mostly positive and I’m sure that it is a great place to come and drink and has a great atmosphere during the more busiest times and who knows, maybe it was just a bad night for me but sadly my first experience with the bar isn’t good one and I more than likely won’t be back due to this.

Nice place themed around pirates. There are plenty of drinks to select from, however I'm a minor and could not have any of them so I had to get something off of the kids menu, which was quite good. I'll just call it lemonade and black currant squash rather than calling it by its real name. There is a fairly big play area with toys for much younger kids and consoles for older kids. These 3 consoles include 1 Nintendo Wii and 2 Playstation 4s, one which had GTA V and one with Fortnite. The Wii just has Wii Sports, the one with Baseball, Golf, Boxing, Tennis and one more I think. Got the holiday blues at the moment so thought it only fair to share some of my best memories and this bar was one of them. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant. They even went to the trouble to order us food to the bar while watching football. There’s games in the side room for the kids to play while you enjoy a drink or two 😃.
