Olive Tree Restaurant — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

We went to Kalamaki last week for our honeymoon and was recommended this place as somewhere that may be nice to eat. We were greeted by a lovely lady who was very pleasant (the one star is for her service) she sat us down and waited on us. We ordered and when our starter came (the chicken strips with honey) they looked nice, until my husband, after already eating one piece, saw that it was near completely raw chicken in the middle, the girl apologised and got him a fresh starter, however this put us off and he barely touched it. We should have left at that point, but we thought we would give them a chance to redeem themselves. The main was ok, but nothing special, I left half of mine as the chips where tasteless frozen chips, that were dry and the salad in my Gyros wrap was shop bought bagged lettuce that has seen better days. At the end of the meal, they took our plates, we wasn't offered a free desert or a complimentary drink, they didn't even knock my husbands disastrous starter off our bill as a good will gesture, nothing! No apology off the chef or the manager, just older staff members staring at us and taking amongst themselves. I wouldn't return here and I wouldn't recommend, raw chicken is a huge no, food should be checked properly before it leaves...

Got the tip from friends back home to go to the Olive Tree Restaurant in Zakynthos, and we were really looking forward to this.

I ordered the mixed grill platter. After fifteen minutes the food was brought. Immediately upon the first bite, the gyros turned out to be cold. Then the rest of all the meat also turned out to be cold. Not lukewarm, but really cold. Only the potatoes were hot.

We called the waitress and reported the complaint. She apologized and went to report it to the kitchen. After that she didn't come back with a new dish or to ask if it needed to be heated up. Demonstratively I left half a dish. After 10 minutes the waitress came by again and I asked her to feel that the meat was cold. Again 3 sorry's, but then someone else came to pay the full amount.

The quality is clearly not consistent at Olive Tree Restaurant in Kalamaki. And they should be ashamed of how they treated me.

I do not recommend this restaurant!

Tip: Go to Danny's Place which is across the street. Delicious food at a fair price and the food...

So disappointed with this restaurant after reading such great reviews thought we’d give it a try for the first time. We ordered starters and main course. We were sill eating our first course when they came with the main course when we said we weren’t ready yet they put it on the table and said it’s there when you are! The starters were lovely so we thought we’d ignore this oversight on their part of serving the mains too early. However the mains were tasteless and not what we ordered from the menu. We left majority of the food and when the waitress came to collect the dishes she asked if everything was ok to which we said no not really can we have the bill please, she sauntered off and left us sitting there for 10 minutes before she came back with the bill. We were polite at all times and weren’t looking for a reduction in our bill and just put it down to the restaurant having an off day as sometimes happens. We were made to feel uncomfortable and we won’t be going...
