Mesala Restaurant & Cafe — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

Eating at Mesala was the worst experience of our stay on Vassilikos even including a night flight with young kids and a sunburn.

Small portions of boring food was served quickly, but since we ordered "large" versions I'm curious how small were the regular ones. We ordered a traditional dish: souvlaki. The chicken was so dehydrated it made our swimwear dry too and there was sausage on the pork skewer. Surprisingly we found the salad drizzled with a store-bought sauce instead of tzatziki.

For the same money you'd better eat at Koukis where food is tasty, service much more friendly and you sit 20...

Unfortunately for us, we discovered this taverna late during our holiday. The food was amazing, we got some cheese cream with bread while we were waiting for our orders (and it was the first restaurant that offered us this among all the ones we have tried :( ), the pita was made there and it was delicious and also, the chicken souvlaki was really amazing. The food is absolutely delicious. Recommend the eggplant dip it is so fresh and the taste of garlic is amazing. The Beef in the stifado is so tender and the greek salad is very fresh. You wont leave hungry as the portions are great sizes and prices are very reasonable for how much you get! The taverna next door is always packed, but don’t be put off due to the lack of people, the food is lovely. Staff are also so lovely!
