Beautiful location, but certainly the worst service we found in 2 weeks in the South of Zakynthos. To start, the young waiter showed a complete lack of flexibility with any menu of side dish questions. The answer was always: "We only have whats written in the menu. We are a restaurant, not a taverna." He should check the name of his employer. The photos on google showed they had fish wish rice, but the waiter claimed they had no rice. After 10 minutes of deliberating and multiple questions, it turned out the original information was false. The menu didn't include any grilled fish, but fish was available! So we ordered 2 see bass with rice. It took 30 minutes. It was nothing special, edible but dry. Meantime I order a FRESH orange juice, which was labeled as double the price of their "orange juice". Turns out it was a mix of the two, this was the first restaurant where we saw a mix of orange and packaged orange juice, so I requested a return. 5 minutes later another waiter comes back with it to tell me it was fresh (lie). He takes it back, and 2 minutes later I see their "manager", the only one not dressed in the restaurant attire, jump from the other side of the restaurant, he decided it was time to do some work by arguing with his clients about the orange juice. The other 3 young men that he "manages" follow him closely to enjoy some kind of show. Not sure they were prepared for how it turned out. He brings the juice a third time and starts shouting, where are you from, whats your name, and proposes we do a deal in which the juice is sent for testing and if it turns out to be a mix he will pay our holidays, otherwise we pay double! The lack of awareness of this man was olympic, as he just turned a minor issue about a juice into a loud argument that every guest could hear. After 5 minutes of shouting and me explaining how bad the service had been from start to finish, he decided the problem was the original waiter and left arguing with the young man. When paying, I noticed they were preparing a shrimps plate with a portable blow torch, so it seems they don't even grill plates in a real grill... And they still included the juice in the bill. Terrible management and service, we tried more than 20 restaurants in the area, this was the...
Read moreWell where do I start, dined there a previous night, which was 2 star, but thought a second try was worth the views.
We ordered the following, lamb gyro, which came with hard chunks of fried lamb, we think it lamb, but it was chewy and tasteless, certainly not the lamb gyros from a traditional skewer, but an old fry pan. Accompanied by a half fried slice of potato! It was absolutely rubbish and a financial con. That was my partners meal !
My meal, was fried sea bass, easy to cook and to spoil it would take incompetent chief. But the three day old lettuce classed as a salad with nothing more, was on the verge of serving rotten food.
When asked the chief (not a chief ) to explain this garbage he expected us to eat and accept just turned into an aggressive confrontation, causing embarrassment to both us and the very few other diners at the time. It’s so sad that a so called Chef could fetch a fantastic lactated restaurant to its knees. This cook, called George Xartofilis, probably a fake name, was aggressive and thought he could convince us that our food was perfect, he actually accused us of not wanting to pay, can you believe that when I had €500 in my wallet! He was a bully and a con artist. After he left our table I paid the bill for crap food Sadly.
I will be making a formal complaint to the owners when I find out who they are, George said he was the owner, really! He didn’t own the socks he was wearing.
A sad state of affairs when we only wanted a lovely meal in a lovely setting, but treated with an aggressive self taught basic cook called George xartofilis.
This restaurant was empty most nights, so that tells you something, enter at your...
Read moreOK, so we were warned about the funny guy who really wants you to enjoy the experience and so his funny repertoire wasn't a total surprise. We were early but greeted as if we were long lost friends. We had a table over looking the bay -most tables have a sea view) so the setting was amazing. We had the house wine which, honestly, was the best wine we had during our holiday. We enjoyed our evening so much we returned for our last night and we weren't disappointed. The food is amazing-so fresh and well cooked, the ambience is romantic yet fun and the setting is perfect. I had the mushroom risotto and my husband had the sea bass from the fresh fish counter on the first night-both incredible. On our last night I had chicken in a lemon sauce with pumpkin and black rice and my husband chose seafood risotto-which he said was excellent. We were given a desert of Baklava on both nights which was to die for-the best thing I've eaten in a long time-so sweet and sticky but absolutely delicious. I would totally recommend you pay Koukis a visit if you're in Vasilikos-if only for the...
