The Balcony Restaurant — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

We returned here on 31st May to celebrate our anniversary, after having had a spectacular meal 5 years prior. I’m very sad to say that it was a huge disappointment. The food looks beautiful, however the portion sizes are ridiculously tiny and everything lacked flavour. The descriptions sounded delicious, but the reality was nothing special at all, in fact we genuinely could do better ourselves at home. In addition to the food itself being disappointing, the care and attentiveness of staff has also gone downhill. I have a food allergy which last time was easily accommodated & the menu adapted by the chef with no bother - this time however, despite having weeks of warning prior to our visit and despite being told everything is organic and “made fresh”, when we actually questioned what was in each dish it turns out it is not made fresh, but pre made and they were unwilling to adapt the menu. It was suggested by one waiter that I have plain pasta. Not really what you expect when you’re paying €18-35 for a main.

The staff were not only lacking knowledge about my allergy despite having had weeks of notice, but they just didn’t care. The chef was apparently unable to make a fresh risotto without wine (my allergen is Sulphites) - it turns out everything is already pre made & they are unwilling to make anything fresh to order. I ended up having the pork belly, without sauce and garnishes (so literally just 3 cubes of pork belly) and despite assurances I STILL reacted. They clearly have a lot of work to do to become up to standard on allergen information.

Lastly, last time we came, whilst being a very nice restaurant it was also very child friendly. The staff were fantastic with our son who was then 5 and there was a lovely wholesome children's menu. This time there was no children's menu at all and no willingness to adapt the menu for our now 3 children aged 2-10. They ended up eating pasta with a cheese sauce which wasn’t unpleasant, but was their only option & again very overpriced for what it was. Had dinner at the restaurant here and it was absolutely wonderful.

The food was to die for, we shared shared a starter and a dessert, and then our own mains, which were all perfectly cooked and presented with care. The cocktails were also by far the best I'd had all week. Only slight issue was there was only one vegetarian main option, which I can understand comeplelty as its a smaller menu as it is, but thankfully it sounded great to both of us.

The staff were lovely and friendly throughout the whole night and were perfectly happy to house us, depsite the fact they were still setting up dinner service when we arrived and weren't quiet ready for guests yet.

The views are stunning, we went at 6:30pm so we could see it in the light, sunset and dark. Plus with it being slightly further out from the resort (only about a 20 minute walk), it's not packed and is very peaceful and screne, so it's the perfect setting.

Moreover, the facilities inside were very stlyish and well kept.

We recently stayed at The Balcony Hotel and dined at their restaurant, and our experience was nothing short of wonderful. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which made us feel right at home. Dining at The Balcony Restaurant was a real highlight. The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish carefully prepared and beautifully presented. It was clear that a lot of thought and creativity went into the menu, and we truly enjoyed every bite. The attentive service throughout the meal added to the experience, striking just the right balance between professionalism and friendliness.
