Dragon Cayalá - Cocina China — Restaurant in Guatemala City

The restaurant is beautifully instagramable, but the food is terrible. It's like the chef saw a picture of American Chinese and then tried to copy it.

The Peiking Duck pancakes are actual pancakes, not thin rice flour based, the meat isn't shredded but over cooked.

Noodle dish is a glutenous glop.

Char Siu is just over sugared dried out pork slices.

The only decent dish was the clear soup and mushrooms.

To be fair, I'm yet to find a Chinese restaurant in Guate that remotely resembles actual food found in China, preferably southern Guangdong style. Everything is inspired by overly sweet US Chinese.

A shame, as it looks like they took some inspiration from Dragon-i in Hong Kong which has great food and style, if only they had copied the food a little...

The atmosphere and the decoration is very nice. That’s the only good thing this place has going for but for the food and service?!?! Very abysmal!! The orange chicken was way too spicy and tasted like plastic. I ordered a lomo dragon which is steak with sautéed vegetables I requested medium well but they brought me well done. The steak was barely edible. When we spoke to the staff about our food they brashly stated “It’s part of the ingredients and it’s very unfortunate that you don’t like it, the best thing we can do for you is box it up and take it home” oh hell...

From the moment we walked a waitress stared at us from head to toes as if we were not dressed for the “ocation”. The drinks were meeeh. The food was TERRIBLE. The orange chicken tastes like orange itself. The classic ribs had no meet! Only fat!! And even a simple sticky rice, wasn’t sticky at all! It was overcooked and dried… completely dissatisfied and disappointed. Also was completely expensive for such a bad food. Only the hostess was nice and the aesthetic n design of the place. We will for sure not...
